I love the sea and the serenity of being near it, feeling the water between my toes, breathing in the salty breezes and watching the waves ebb and flow into an endless horizon. Not many things can uplift the spirit as much as a trip to the beach, when all the tourists have gone, and there is total richness for all of the senses to take in. Spectacular views came to me with your well-woven words. The rhythm was spot on and the assonance, consonance and sibilance played melodious notes within my spirit. It is a beautiful poem to read aloud, just so the words could not only be seen, but also heard. My favorite Parts: "Serenity bathes me as I breathe in the ocean air and taste the salty flavor of the absence of time." "behind, I bask in this timeless space, and my spirit enjoys rest." "But alas, eternity releases its grip, and my senses reluctantly respond to the world I must return to" These lines popped right out when I read them. Boom ... impact! Got me and held my attention, actually making me a little envious, and missing being by the sea, since leaving Florida, my winter home. When back there, I will appreciate it more! Beautifully crafted and not a wonder as to why it was published in the WDC Anthology. Until next time--write on!
