Hello there, Ann!

This is a Simply Positive Review! *Leaf2g*

*Key2* Your poem acutely describes the loss of a soul mate and the emptiness left behind, in this woman's life. In fact it was such a shock to her, she couldn't begin to even believe the truth of his passing. She became a mere shell of herself, distant, and then distance, where no one who knew her could reach her -- try to shake the doubt away and bring her back to reality. It wasn't meant to be, just as she, without him, was not meant to be, either.

*Umbrellav* Very profound poem, indeed. I could feel the heartache, the emptiness in the pit of my belly, just imagining such a devastating loss.

*Sanddollar* I've known older couples, married most of their lives to the same person -- they are just as one person in spirit; when one dies, in less than a year, their mate followed. The quality of life wasn't there because of loss of the loved one in which to share each glorious day together.

My mind envisioned a mourning dove, which mates for life and feels the loss of its mate each day. Whenever I see one on a branch, alone in the vastness of nature, my heart goes out to it. *Bird*

*Quill* Wonderfully penned verses about a subject matter of profound sadness and loneliness. Good use of consonance and assonance, sibilance -- well woven within the lines at times to produce the best impact.

Loved these lines:

"Constricted deep within,
The news confounded, confused"

Well done! *Starfishr*

Until next time--write on!
