Hello Southernemma! I am reviewing "The Inconstancy Of Time". I like the title. It is interesting and not boring. It makes the reader want to open the piece and read the poem. Very nice. I liked this piece. It read well. There were no stumbling points in the read. I didn't have to stop and start, or go back and repeat. The piece is prose but it still reads poetically. Some could argue one way or the other. For me, the role of imagery plays a huge part is defining what is strictly prose and what is poetry. Two major points on this: There is a focus on theme. The reader encounters time beginning with childhood, traveling through adulthood, from the past, the present and onto the future. That brings unity to the piece. Secondly: I loved much of the language and imagery presented. I loved this stanza: "... Perhaps, when my nest is empty, time will slow from a quickstep to a quadrille, bringing relief from the dervish of life." Loved that language and the way it reads! Overall, I enjoyed reading this! Nice use of brevity, word choice, theme presentation, and imagery. Good job!
