You freeze with indecision for a second as they come closer. Your plan in tatters and your mind frozen, you watch as the two enormous monoliths of Barney and Dora stand up and stretch their arms even higher into the air. The rumbling sound of their voices comes to you like an earthquake.
"That was boring." said Dora. Even from this distance, you can see the doll clenched in her fist. You shudder. You don't want to imagine what would happen if she made you play dolls again at this size
"Yeah." Says Barney. "I'm going to make myself a sandwich. You want anything." The rumbling sound of Barney's voice makes you fall to the ground with the shaking of the floorboards. You begin to think that you might be a bit TOO small for this. You should've eaten a bit more peanut butter...
"No thanks. I think I'll go see what our dear cousin is doing." Dora giggles. You've always hated that giggle.
"That pest." If only Barney knew how close he is to the truth right then, "Whatever." Your heart sinks. He obviously hasn't forgotten about the sore wrist you gave him last summer.
Your giant cousins start to walk, alarmingly, towards you, growing even more massive, filling the sky and shaking the earth (or floor). Deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, you make a hasty exit. Running as fast as your tiny legs can carry you, you still would never have made it to the stairs in time if you hadn't been so close to the stairs. You climb for your life, faster and stronger body paying off big-time. You just make it onto the third step when Dora starts to ascend.
You jam yourself in a corner, bones rattling in your body as Dora passes overhead, not bothering to look down. You breathe a sigh of relief, and then resume climbing once most of the vibration is gone. When you near the top step, you hear a voice call out,
"Oh cousin, where are you." Followed by that awful giggle. Again, you shudder, and then make it to the top step. You cautiously make your way down the hall, resolving never to do this again. Suddenly...
