Tubes and Bright Lights

The portal gains in size and after pulling back a little, then tosses Tom into the air and catches him like a cat swallowing a mouse in a cartoon. It feels to Tom as though he is in a giant water slide as he careers down the inside of the tube. The further he slides, the darker it becomes until he can no longer see his hand in front of his face! He continues on in darkness for several minutes more before light begins to rapidly return.

The light is bright and dazzling like looking at the Sun on a clear day which Tom soon realises it is. No longer is he hurtling down a dark tunnel. Instead he is laying on his back in the middle of a grassy field. Propping himself up on his elbows he looks around an notices that something isn't right.
