Obi-Wan Kenobi. The legendary Jedi. Perhaps "the" Jedi. People in the galaxy knew Yoda for his wisdom or Mace Windu for his power. But Obi-Wan and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker became legends during the Clone Wars; heroes. Little did the people know of the events that broke Obi-Wan´s heart: the deaths of his Jedi friends, the betrayal of his best friend Anakin Skywalker, the downfall of the Republic and the death of Anakin. Although he survived the battle with Obi-Wan (he heard rumors on Tatooine about the Emperor´s "new" apprentice, Darth Vader, and he immediately knew it was Anakin rebuilt), Anakin was dead for him. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker, he was consumed by Darth Vader, his inner Dark Side, the very evil he wanted to fight.
Obi-Wan had to go into exile because of the great Jedi purge of the Empire, and he chose Tatooine, a remote planet where the Empire has neither influence nor interest. He also went there in order to watch over a new hope: Anakin´s son, Luke Skywalker. He brought him here to his aunt and uncle, Beru and Owen Lars, good people. Owen was Anakin´s stepbrother, so it was the only family left for the boy. But he wasn´t alone all the time in his hut out there in the desert. He was able to communicate with his old master, Qui-Gon, who returned from the Netherworld of the force and received eternal life. Obi-Wan was learning this ability from his old master, and they were meditating together. But someday, something happened. While Obi-Wan went to Mos Eisley, he heard rumors about a group of Jedi who survived and who were now opposing the Empire; on the remote planet Jabiim.
"You want to help these Jedi, Obi-Wan?"
"Yes, Qui-Gon, I have to."
"But what about the child? Didn´t you swear to protect him?"
"I know...but if there are really some Jedi alive, I have to help them."
"I see...I admit that I would have done the same. Yes, you should go there, to Jabiim."
"Thank you, master."
"May the force be with you, Obi-Wan."
"May the force be with you, Qui-Gon."
