Everything happened so fast. He drank the formula and barely had a chance to intake breath before his entire being was reduced to a speck upon his kitchen floor.
It had never worked like that before. The many times Bryan had experimented upon himself, drinking the exact same concoction, he always had a slight grace period of almost a minute.
"Oh crap, I'm on the damn floor! This is not good!"
Bryan had been so absorbed with his own plight that he forgot just what time it was. Looking up at the sheer cliff of counter, towering over 1,700 feet into the sky, he suddenly froze when loud noises invaded from behind the back door.
With a squeaky turn and light creak, all blown up to near thunderous notes, the humongous door was pushed open. Immediately, a gale of hurricane winds giddily swept into the space.
Bryan barely had a chance to scream before he was thrown backwards. "Oh, shit! He's early!"
Early by only a few minutes - a fact that was innocently unimportant to Bryan's teenaged neighbour Tommy. The gigantic teen entered the room with pounding stomps, each one sending tremendous vibrations through the tiled floor. Bryan pulled himself up, screaming in both fear and surprise.
"It's just Tommy... same scrawny kid I have known for years," He intoned, staring banjo eyed at the giant in question. "But look at him!"
Unaware of his neighbour's presence, Tommy rotated his planetary-sized head. A tiny black speck buzzed past his face, speeding quickly to dodge his enormous hand. Tommy easily stood more than 3,000 feet tall. Not as tall as Bryan's older and more athletic nephew, but such details were almost unnoticeable when smaller than a common ant.
Lifting an enormous arm to check the time, the titanic teenager suddenly broke into action.
"Fuuuck!" Bryan belted as he whipped himself around and fled.
The ground jolted with each godly step. Heading for the base of his kitchen island was his only option, but unfortunately, Tommy had the same idea.
Another humongous shockwave sent the tiny man to his face. Turning over, he was presented with a rare front-row angle of Tommy's monumental sole. Nothing more than a regular sneaker sole by any means, but now clown to titanic scale. Every ridge of rubber stood out like deep canyons. Some filled with dried mud or pebbles, while others were worn down almost flat.
Bryan could only open his maw once more and shriek. "Noooooo!" He vainly put his arms above him, unable to think of any other action to save himself.
Seemingly to hover briefly, the tread stretched over the section of floor in all directions. Then it descended.
THOOOM.
It met the ground with such introduction that tiny Bryan was slammed flat against the ground by intense shockwave. And he lay there, disheveled and trembling, but somehow still alive.
"What...How am I-..."
Before he could speak his question, he was rudely interrupted. In the dark, but somehow not pressed flat, he was greeted with an avalanche of dirt that fell upon him. Struggling, he froze again when light suddenly returned. Tommy's huge sneaked lifted off the floor as he stepped away from the counter. Bryan stared at the filthy tread - watching it raise into the sky, moving away at such impossible speed before landing with a hefty crash.
He pulled himself up, spitting and scraping dirt from his naked body. Immediately, Bryan realized his trick to survival - without thinking, he had fallen into one of the many ravine-sized gaps between each tile. "Thank you mother for convincing me against linoleum!" Looking around, he spotted Tommy's gigantic being across the room. The hapless teenager had no idea he nearly erased his neighbour's existence like a mere insect. Tommy clutched the package in one hand, idly tapping it against his leg, while he read the small note Bryan had left him with the juicy bit of currency attached.
Scampering back onto the mesa-like tile, large chunks of dirt and grit had been left behind from the giant's tread. Each one larger than himself, but just as insignificant. Bryan frowned at the mess as he looked back to Tommy. "Ever heard of wiping your feet? Ugh!"
The ridiculous comment went unheard by the gigantic teen who stood immensely tall and so far away. Tommy only crumpled the written note, pocketed the valuable one, and prepared to leave.
