Chapter #4
Kirtn asks for an explanation
by: dlands
"Where are the J/taals?" Kirtn asked, his irritation at their disappearance evident, as his grasp on Rheba's shoulders tightened. Had the two strangers anything to do with the J/taals not being at their posts?
"There's nothing to worry about," Rheba assured him, "They've merely gone into the 'port to see about restocking our supplies."
"Convenient timing for these two to appear, don't you think? You, unguarded. Me, not here?"
Rheba frowned.
"The timing of our appearance was not intentional, and we mean you, Rheba, and your associates no harm." Giljaras stated.
"Really?" Kirtn sounded doubtful.
"They said they are here to ask for our assistance," Rheba stated.
Fssa hissed, "How can you be so sure? It spoke into your mind. What if it has more powers than just that of mind-speech? What if it affected your judgment. Perhaps you should let Kirtn talk to them for himself?"
Rheba realized the wisdom of the snake's words. Hadn't the dragon played on her own emotions? She would give anything to have been able to save her own homeworld. Had he picked up on that desire and twisted it somehow to suit his own needs?
"So tell me," Kirtn asked, "Where did you come from, and why are you here?"
