The old storyteller

    by: Bmao Author IconMail Icon
"Um....hi!! Sorry about that." you cried somewhat shyly, lowering your rifle. The old storyteller gazed with his hawk eyes between the trees and glared at you; you knew he was trying to pick at your thoughts.

You glared back and blocked the mental probe that pricked at your brain. It's what the old weyrleaders back home used to do all the time to haze the younger ones.

"You...boy!! Are you a dragon rider? I heard you crash down only moments before!!" the old, wasted man croaked. You rolled your eyes, "Well, yeah... Who else would be crazy enough to hang out with this monster!!" Drak rumbled to your side, but to your surprise it didn't seem to creep out the old decadent man.

The old man kept glaring through you. "You wanna know our names right?" you assume. He nodded slowly.

"Well, I'm Giljaras" you introduce, showing you your gedewy insignia. You don't know how much trouble that had been to tattoo myself "And I am Drakreanor," your green dragon replied to your side. He only snorted, you remembered this man had once been a dragon rider himself, but he had lost his dragon. You sincerely felt sorry for those type of people, but the way he was staring was just plain creepy.

"Dude, I'm not here to kill you okay? I'm not like that crazy dictator," you reply, reffering to king Galbatorix. The old man frowned, "How do you know you are not lying?" he said testily.

"Or else he'd be here already, and you'd be dead," you respond. The old man frowned; you got the impression that he grudgingly respected your cold logic.

"You can at least tell me your name" Drak wondered with his friendliest tone. The old man nodded, he knew a dragon would never lie, even if the same couldn't be said for their riders, "I suppose there is no harm in telling you that; I am an old storyteller who has traveled far and wide, searching for-"

"Skip the story, heard too much crap from my weyrleaders already" you snorted. The old man shook in fury of your insolence, "Brom" he replied. You nodded with an interested eye and smiled.

He cleared his throat before addressing you again, "Where do you heir from Giljaras?" You blanked for a second, he obviously must have known you couldn't have just hidden without the king without knowing. Would you tell him the truth?

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Blab everything

2. He shouldn't be asking you!!

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
