"Finished!" Lacy exclaimed upon closing the shell of her device. Taking the invention from the table, she paused, eyes wide to absorb the magnificent creation resting in her petite hands. A smile lifted her cheeks, "Now I can stand up to any bully I see," then smiling wider, "and I can stand above them too!"
She laughed to herself in the clean, cavernous science lab, overjoyed with her success. "Now time to test it," she announced to the surrounding equipment, "fifty percent should be perfect if my figures are correct."
Strength calibrated, Lacy held her invention at arms' length, hesitating for one more deep breath before igniting the beam of brilliant blue. Instantly the glowing energy pierced her coat and clothing, flowing into her body, rushing through her veins and exciting every muscle. Lacy gasped under the awesome power coursing through her body and let the device fall from her hands.
It bounced at her feet, which quickly reached outward as if to reclaim it underfoot. Her entire body expanded upward, outward in perfect proportion, magnifying her dimensions as the energy began to fade. Rising higher, Lacy bumped her head against the ten foot ceiling and uttered, "Ow! Uh oh." The river of energy finally recedes to a trickle then to a drop.
Lacy looked around the lab from her newly elevated vantage point, head brushing against the ceiling, "A bit more than I expected," she resolves, "but it's perfect! Let's just see those punks mess with my Jason now!" Another round of laughter poured from within her until she looked down upon her device.
