The giant heads back across the sand to where his 6 year old son was playing in the sand with his little friend.
The giant sat down in his beach chair next to another male giant. The two giants are single fathers taking their boys to the beach. Still stuck between the huge dads meaty toes Jim looks up. The giant picked up a portion of a newspaper and cracked open a beer.
“Hey Brent, you see these new interactive miniature action figures they came out with?” he says to his buddy and points to a picture of a lifelike looking toy. “They say they can even think on their own and interact freely. Weird, huh?”
“Damn, that thing does look real. That has to be an altered picture of a real person. And is that the price? $50 for an action figure. That’s crazy !”
Without looking the Giant slipped off his flip-flops and dug his feet into the sand. In the process, Jim caught hold of the toe separator and held on. He was free. Now to just get back to his own blanket and buddies to get him help.
Jim slowly crawled across the surface of the flip-flops rubber sole. Unfortunately he didn’t get far.
“Ummm Mac. What’s that on your shoe?”
The giant lowered the paper and looked down. “I don’t know some kind of bug?” he said leaning forward. “Hey, I think its one of those toys from the paper” He leaned forward and grabbed Jim in his huge hand. “I think it is. Look at it” Mac said as he tossed Jim thru the air into Brent’s awaiting hands.
Jim was scared to death. Luckily he had heard them talking about those new toys and knew he had to play the part if he were to get out of this. He lay very still in Brent’s hand when he opened it and looked up at the giant rugged face. Brent’s steel blue eyes gazed down. “I think your right it does look like one. Let’s see if I can get it to respond.” He leaned into his hand and spoke with his warm beer breath. “Hello”
Jim replied, “Hello”
They men laughed. “It really works”
“My name is Brent” the giant stated.
“Hello Brent, my name is Jim” Jim replied.
“This is soo cool” Mac said. “Let me try”
Jim is tossed back to Mac. He holds Jim up and asks “Jim, what would you like to do?”
Jim replied, “Be set free.”
Mac and Brent just looked at one another then back at Jim who slowly drew a smile on his face.
Mac replied, “Sorry Jim my boy that’s not going to happen. We got us a new toy and just saved $50 by finding you. Too bad for the guy that lost you.”
