Nora served them each a bowl of soup and Isabelle fed some of her soup to Gregory, who was now awake and quietly looking around. When they had all finished their soup and Gregory had once again fallen asleep, they resumed their conversation.
"Now, my dears," Nora advised them, "I would suggest that if anyone asks, you tell them that the two of you are married and that Gregory is your own child. If the people of this town discovered that he is the son of Franklin and Amelia the consequences would not turn out well for either you or him. Perhaps you could say you are all siblings, but more than likely your situation would be taken advantage of and you would be put to work doing lord knows what."

"We will do all that we can to bring the princess back safely your majesty." In front of the horse pen five knights knelt to King Edward on horseback before them.
"I trust you will do so, swiftly, while maintaining order among the people. Also, young Daniel's father is dead, so he may be reluctant to return. We all want to believe that Daniel is innocent, but alas, a man is dead and his killer is out there somewhere, it may even be Daniel. Caution is the key. The life of a princess is a very precious barganing tool, and though we are at peace with most of the neighboring kingdoms I would prefer not to give them any indication that they may be able to gain an advantage over me. Especially be wary and keep your eyes open, for Radigan is a powerful sorcerer and he has on many occasions given us reason to believe he wishes to claim our land as his own by any means necessary."

"Melinda," in one of the many guest rooms within the walls of the castle Queen Jasmine tried to comfort Daniel's worry stricken mother, "Edward is sending his best knights to find them. Soon our children will be in our arms once again. In the meantime your daughters are overjoyed to be staying in the castle, you will all be safe and well cared for."
"Oh your majesty, who would wish to harm my Howard? And Daniel, to have found his father...." What if he who has taken my Howard from me now seeks to take my Daniel as well?

Isabelle walked around Nora's kitchen trying to soothe the screaming Gregory. "I do not know what is wrong. He has been fed, burped, he has slept, he does not need to be cleaned."
"Let me take a look my dear." Nora looked up from the bag she was filling with supplies for them. She checked Gregory's forehead, neck, chest, and finally his mouth. Using her thumb and index finger to hold his mouth open, Nora saw a baby tooth and sighed in acknowledgement.
"He has a tooth, what does that mean?" Daniel asked as he stood from the table to take Gregory from Isabelle's tired arms.
"Yes, he has a tooth, and many more on the way. The child is teething; his tooth and gums are in pain." She walked to the far wall and began rummaging through one of the shelves. When she turned around with jar in hand. "Here, take this. These are strips of dried goat meat. They are not very filling, but chewing on them will ease the pain." She took one strip from the jar and handed it to Daniel, who gave it to Gregory to chew on, quickly silencing his cries, before placing it in the bag. Just as Daniel and Isabelle resumed their seats at the table and sound knock came from the door. They looked at each other worriedly, but Nora merely smiled and went to answer, they carefully followed behind.
