Gabumon blinked his eyes open and stared around. He was laying on the gray wall of a small store, with aisles of swelled fruits and vegetables in their possession. The air, strangely grim and cheerful all at once, made Gabumon uncomfortable and he averted his eyes to the conveniently placed checkout counter. A cheerful Monodramon decked with a white hat and apron stood behind it and he waved encouragingly at Gabumon with a glint of mischief in his eyes. Apprehensive of that look as he was, Gabumon felt no choice but to join him.
“Hello stranger.” the Monodramon said pleasantly, chuckling over his own greeting. “What brings you here.”
Gabumon blinked confusedly. “Um...I don't know. The last think I remember was going to sleep in the area I guard. How did I get here?”
Monodramon's smile turned mischievous. Gabumon stared at him warily.
“Did you bring me here?”
“Yup!” said Monodramon cheerfully. ”Business was sort of getting boring for a couple of days and I decided bring a customer in myself would lighten up the monotony.”
“You should have asked permission first before doing that,” Gabumon said sternly, “Taking someone when they are asleep doesn't leave a great impression on your customers.”
“They generally don't come even when I ask.” replied Monodramon vaguely. He waved at his selections. “Want some fruit?”
Gabumon was about to say that he wouldn't buy anything from the person that kidnapped him, but upon inspecting the selections, he paused. Many of the selections were things of his taste and this fellow didn't seem too suspicious. Probably wanted to pull something harmless on him that would have both of them laughing in the end. With a shrug, he made a choice and was handed a watermelon-like melon.
“Uh, oops. I don't haven't got any money.” Gabumon discovered sheepishly.
“Aw, that's no problem. In fact, that wasn't what I intended.” Monodramon pointed his thumb backwards. “I just want you to follow me to the back.”
Gabumon suddenly felt a wave of uncertainty. Following this odd Digimon to the back of a store where he had obvious control sent alarm bells ringing in his head. However, he couldn't pay for this product and he felt obligated to do something to make up for that.
