"Sorry old chap, I have to get ready for the Ball," replied Charles.

Once Charles left the room, Edmund took a closer look at the watch. It was an antique time piece, probably late eighteenth century, thought Edmund. It was in working order though and the chime mechanism looked particularly fine.

Edmund opened the watch, being careful not to damage the spring and read the inscription inside. It said

You have the following choices:

1. "To my daughter - my princess"

2. "Alfred E Withenstrop - 1786"
