This choice: Run down the aisle as fast as you can • Go Back...Chapter #3A Slight Delay by: Doom Deep breaths. Deep. Breaths.
You can't put it off forever, though. You'll have to make the sprint sooner or later. It's just so... daunting.
Right, after this next giant passes, then you're DEFINITELY going.
The crunching footsteps pass by.
Nothing for it, then. Away you go.
You would normally stick your head down and pump your arms and legs for all they're worth, for a little extra speed. Now, however, you really need to be able to see where you're going.
Thud.
A foot landing just inches from your left throws you off balance, knocks you down. You curl into a ball, arms protecting your head for all the good it will do, and mutter a hurried prayer to any god that may be listening.
Luck (or divine whimsy?) save you from a messy end this time, but now you'll have to be more careful, no more underestimating the speed of these behemoths.
The barrage of feet is avoided with care and grace this time, but when you finally reach the safety point of the bag drop zone, you collapse.
Deep breaths.
Getting to your feet, you quickly locate your bag, its off blue form looming above you like a slightly ill hillock.
A matter of a few moments to get in, get your 'phone and -
Footsteps. Instinctively, you run for the nearest cover, diving underneath a swaying bagstrap, swathing yourself in its shadow.
Another bag is deposited. It belongs to a girl, you guess, judging by the skirt that the owner is wearing. Nothing to worry about, in moments she'll be gone and you can be on your way.
Ah, not so simple. Moments pass and she's still there. You watch her, seeing her rummage around inside her cavernous hold-all (which, at this scale, really could hold all to your eyes). It finally clicks in your head what she's doing.
Rather than take her pens and other stationary out before entering the room to save time, she's looking for them now.
You wouldn't mind so much, but she can clearly see your bag from her position, and might spot you if you moved to it. On the other hand, if you wait for her to leave, there's a chance that some other person may drop their own bag on top of yours, and make your task all the harder. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
