Chapter #2Yuna, I guess. Guest star: Magic 8-Ball! by: Don Anonymous de Somewhere One day, long after Sin and Yu Yevon and all those creepy dead people had been soundly vanquished, FFX-2 happened.
One day, long after FFX-2 happened, Yuna had nothing to do. Ergo, she decided to do something. Simple enough.
And so she began. But another obstacle faced her: what was the something that she would do? She knew that the writers of this story would no doubt like to see her go to the nearest Krispy Kreme (they had just opened a franchise in Besaid) and not leave the place until they had erected a statue in honor of their greatest patron, but she also knew that it was probably in her best interests to find a reason to do something like that before she went off and did it.
Fortunately her Magic 8-Ball was there for her. She moved from the middle of the room (in her house in Besaid) where she was arbitrarily standing to pluck the Magic 8-Ball from an arbitrary shelf in said room. Shaking it, she said, "Should I go down to the Krispy Kreme?"
"SIGNS POINT TO YES," said the Magic 8-Ball, cold and black in her hands.
Yuna then asked, "Why?"
The Magic 8-Ball was shaken and turned upside-down, and it replied "CONCENTRATE AND ASK AGAIN."
So she did, and it said, "DOUBTFUL."
"What," thought Yuna aloud, "does that mean I have doubts about something?" She shook the 8-Ball.
The Magic 8-Ball said "YES DEFINITELY."
"About what?" Shake.
"MY SOURCES SAY NO."
Yuna thought about this. While normally a particularly intelligent person (in spite of which she fell in love with Tidus (who in their right mind would do that?)) she was bored, and as a result her brain was temporarily melted. It was the middle of summer, and the heat didn't help either. After (not) much soul-searching, the young ex-summoner came to the conclusion that the Magic 8-Ball had decided not to tell her what she was doubtful about.
But, she could not think what it was. So she asked. "Won't you please give me some sort of hint?" Shake,
"SIGNS POINT TO YES."
Okay, Yuna thought. Maybe it wants me to play a guessing game. "Is it smaller than a breadbox?" Shake.
"NO."
"Okay.... Will it probably change my life if I solve it?" Shake
"MOST LIKELY."
"Will I find out if I go and eat a lot of Krispy Kremes?" Shake.
"TRY AGAIN LATER."
Yuna thought about this, but she was beginning to get impatient. She shook the Magic 8-Ball fiercely, but she accidentally dropped it!
It broke against her hard stone floor and out popped a funny little man, who was green and floatey and transparent and had a very annoyed expression on his face.
Yuna, her eyes wide, asked it "Are you a genie?"
"No," said the funny little annoyed ghost-man. "I'm the spirit of the Magic 8-Ball. And let me say, you've been asking me some very stupid questions. And you dropped me. But it's my job to answer questions. So, go ahead." But the funny little man did not say that being free from the 8-Ball entitled him to give false answers, nor did he say that he was probably going to do so because he hated Yuna's guts for some reason.
"Okay," said Yuna. "What am I doubtful about?"
The funny little man braced himself, as though he was about to be shaken wildly, but when he noticed that the room was staying still, he opened his eyes and cleared his throat, thinking of the lie he could tell that would be most likely to get this woman to do something stupid and embarassing. "Well, you see..." he began, before continuing, "you are doubtful about your body. You aren't sure you're beautiful."
"I'm not?" asked Yuna, amazed. This guy was good; even she didn't know that!
"Of course not!" he snapped. "You aren't sure you're beautiful," he said again, "and you... you want to try something different with yourself. Yeah, that's it."
"So..." said Yuna, "I... should go to Krispy Kreme?"
"Yes," said the funny little man.
"Great!" said Yuna, before running out of her door down to the heavenly doughnut franchise.
The funny little man looked out the door and called after her, | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
