Bryant spent the rest of the day, short and impatient with his partner in everything they did. The little man he had found beside the park bench hidden inside his pocket, Bryant reached his hand in periodically just to check he was still there. He couldn't believe it.
Something in the back of his mind had told him right away that he needed to show the little man to his partner and try to help him, but it was as if all rational thought left him when he looked at it. He felt like a kid at Christmas, who had just gotten a new toy. In fact, he felt that way in more ways then one. He couldn't shed the idea that he had just found a wonderful toy for himself that he just couldn't wait to play with.
It seemed forever before Bryant returned home to his apartment late that night. His room-mate was already asleep, and Bryant went straight to his room, closing the door behind him and kicking off his shoes. He reached a hand in his pocket and pulled out his wonderful discovery as he jumped onot the bed, bouncing a little as he got himself into a sitting position.
Alan thought he seemed quite the over-grown child as well, and he didn't know how he liked it. He couldn't deny the man was handsome, and he was somehow even attracted to him, but what kind of weird psycho world had he gotten himself into.
Bryant set Alan down between his legs on the bedspread. His feet in black socks were close behind Alan and his thick, muscular legs surrounded Alan on all sides like walls.
"What's your name?" said Bryant excitedly. Even his voice sounded childlike.
"Er... Alan," said Alan, adding, "What's yours?"
"I'm Bryant," answered Bryant, apparently very proud of his name. "Don't worry, Alan. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to help!"
Alan breathed a sigh of relief. The young cop really did just want to help him then. Though, Alan thought, he never should have taken him away from the park bench then. That was where the book was and how was Alan ever going to get back to normal without the book. Alan told the young cop all of this, and Bryant's smile just widened.
"Well, I would like to see this book. I guess we'll have to go back and try to find it. I hope it's still there," Bryant replied.
"Then, you're gonna help me get back to normal size?!"
Bryant's smile faltered a little. "Well... I don't know about that, my little friend. I'm gonna help you, yeah. But I don't know about normal size or not..."
Alan's hopeful expression faded to something between despair and confusion. What did this guy intend to do with him? Were they going to get the book now? What the hell was going on?!
