The janitor slapped haphazardly at the tiny bug on the countertop. In his haste, though, he missed and instead upset the rack of test tubes.
As the tubes impacted with the countertop, some of them shattered. Shards of broken glass rained down all around Eric as he ran blindly, still terrified of how close he had just come to being obliterated like a bug.
The need for a place to hide was foremost in his mind. He found himself against a wall. He read some letters as large as his entire body.
INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL SCIENCE FIFTH EDITION
It was a damn textbook. He cowered in the shadow of the book's spine.
The giant janitor was upset with himself for making an additional mess to clean up. All to swat at some damn bug!

Eric crept along the spine of the textbook, and then crept around the corner. He prayed the giant janitor wouldn't see him. He peeked around the corner.
The giant was coming closer. A giant hand reached down with a large cloth and began sweeping along the countertop, collecting the broken test tubes.
Eric froze and pressed himself against the book. He could not dare allow himself to be seen again by the dangerous giant.
