"Leo, what kind of jazz are you pulling?" the larger boy said as he rocked to a halt. Matt looked him up and down with surprise. He'd never seen anyone so big and so fat before up close. This huge boy towered over Leo.
"You'll have to get used to Leo," said the huge boy, turning to Matt. "He's the biggest in his family, but he sure ain't the biggest here, and he's got a chip on his shoulder. My names's Perry," said the huge boy, extending a hand to Matt. "You must be the new boy Ms. Peach told me was coming. I'm Perry, one of the Prefects, and I'm supposed to help you settle in." Matt continued to just stare at Perry. Perry looked down kindly from his six foot five inch height. "Whatsa matter, Matt?" he said in a teasing tone. "Never seen a real fat guy before? I'm not the biggest in the school - or in my family. C'mon, grab your stuff, let's get you to a dorm room. Would you rather bunk with someone bigger than you are, or smaller than you are?"
Matt thought to himself, Perry must be over 500 pounds! He snapped out of his reverie and started to follow Perry. "Not so fat, chubby," Leo said, "did I give you permission to move?"
"Knock it off Leo, or we'll have to have it out," said Perry. "I like Matt already. If you're going to razz him, you'll have to deal with me."
"Awright, awright," Leo whined. "Guy can't have any fun around here." And he turned and walked out of the room, slamming the door as he went. Perry opened it again.
"Right, new guy. What's your name?"
"Matt."
"Right, Matt, I can see you're dying to ask me something," said Perry as he began to walk - waddle, really - down the hall with Matt. "What is it?"
"How big are you?" Matt said in a quiet voice.
"Big enough that Leo will leave you along!" Perry chuckled at his joke. "Last week I was 520 pounds, and I'm six foot five. Now, you didn't answer my question: do you want to share a room with someone bigger than you, or smaller than you?"
