But how to arrange this trip? Your mum and dad would probably drive you up, or grandma might buy you train tickets, or you might go by yourself on the bus.
You decide to call your grandma first.
"Grandma, I want to come visit you for a few weeks."
"I'd love it - it's beautiful up here this time of year. Is anyone else coming? Your parents? That cute boy I saw you with last?"
"No, my parents have to work and Greg's away for a few weeks - that's partly why I want to come."
"OK. I'll meet you at the train station. Can you catch the train at 7? I'll have the ticket waiting for you at the counter."
You hang up happy. Visiting grandma will be great - you really like her, and her cooking will be excellent for your waistline. And she always travels by train, or gives you tickets - the seats are so much bigger and more comfy, you can bring your laptop, and there are even meals on the train....thinking about meals, you go get a big snack, then start to pack.
By the time your parents come home you're all packed and ready. Your mum prepares a quick dinner and you wolf it down, despite the snacks you ate all afternoon. Your dad is surprised you're visiting grandma on short notice, but pleased, and he takes you to the station in plenty of time.
You pick up your ticket, say good-bye to Dad, and snag a seat in the waiting room. Then you...
