Chapter #5

The Stealthy Approach

    by: Keroro04 Author IconMail Icon
Three weeks later, on the Iceberg Cruiser...

"Okay, so here's the plan."

"First off, we are going to sail as close to the island as we physically can for them to notice and get greedy, but not close enough to get them to think we're trying to ram it into the island. Once we have their attention, Sally here will try to beg as hard as she can for Roxie to spare her life, and will even offer handing out some cargo in exchange for being let free."

"What if she just tries to kill me?" Sally responded, currently all fused into one as she was lounging on the floor, having broken the long cruise deck chair she was resting in when she tried putting all her mass onto it. "She's very impulsive, and not exactly the reasonable type..."

"She is when it comes to greasy foods, which is why we hired that pizza place to build us a huge surplus of it. Hell, offer to feed it to her. She loves being the dominant one in a situation so it'll make her really happy."

"I... see. Damn, I wanted to have some too Cali."

"Well it's all for her. Anyhow, as you're conversing with her Yuki-Onna and I will take a small life raft and sail to shore. The oceans around the island have heat sensors that detect any boat that gets close, but with her cold control she's going to be able to mask our presence."

"Indeed." Yuki-Onna said, the lithe geisha sipping from a wineglass made out of fine ice. "They won't be able to detect either of us until we actually get on the island."

"And once we're on the island, Dr. Bones will be hacking into all of the cameras to keep our faces hidden, as well as alarms to disable them. This will give the two of us ample time to have our cold friend pull out her full potential and cool the volcano, removing all of the heat surrounding the vault's entrance."

"Meanwhile, while Multiplicity is busy distracting Roxie, Billy and one of Mult's little splits will don the disguise of Krakatoa Syndicate workers, and blend in with the crowd. Preferably Sally 4, considering she's the smartest out of your lot, okay Sally?"

"Fine, fine..." Sally replied, grumbling a bit as her stomach growled out of hunger. "What do you need with my... more logical side though?"

"Simple. Whenever Billy gets questioned as not belonging while she joins in transporting crates, your job will be to convince the others that she's always been a part of the group."

"And that's just supposed to work like that?" Billy Hardhead asked, the tomboy of a satyr crushing a beer can she just drunk with her six pack before throwing it away. "That's boring! I wanna crush skulls!"

"And you will! Trust me, for the love of the almighty you will! You'll go with one of the regiments taking the crates to the island onto there, where as soon as you get on shore you'll be knocking all of them out so they can't alert anyone. Then you'll be making it to the south entrance, where you'll camp by those big doors until I give the command."

"Hmph... maybe when I'm the mastermind we'll just charge right in and steal everything..."

"That's never a good idea, Billy. Either way, with everyone in place that's when phase two of the plan comes in."

___

"Huff... huff... man, I'm getting a good workout from this."

Everything was going to plan for Calico Cat so far. While Roxie was distracted by Multiplicity and her horny but kiss-ass attitude, she and Yuki-Onna had managed to not just make it to the island but turn the volcano dormant through powerful bursts of icy wind. Looking into the special Letty Lens her family's company produced, she could clearly see not just the blueprints of the entire vault but both her and Billy's positions.

She'd have to thank her mom Leticia for these glasses later, but for now she was just glad to have these glasses for easy map checking. Tapping the side of the frame, she'd activate a brief connection to the voice chat and ask a question to the hacker on the other side.

"Dr. Bones, is everything in place?"

"...Looks so, ma'am." A masculine voice replied from the other end. "The door should open for you as soon as you get close."

"Got it." Removing her finger tip from the side of her glasses, Calico slithered across the ground while avoiding being spotted by any Krakatoa Syndicate grunt patrolling the island. Even with the alarms disabled, word of mouth was still very effective and she needed to make sure that nobody could ever alert where she was and thus force her to run for her life. Moments like this was why she was very glad that she had trained to be an acrobat growing up, rather than some other job.

Meanwhile, with the volcano cooled she had ordered Yuki-Onna to slowly ascend to the peak of the mountain and keep watch over Roxie. If things ever got violent, her order was to fire bursts of ice at the Volcanus Twin's position, in order to protect the ship. She needed to go inside alone anyhow, and it gave the geisha woman something to do until it was time for the final phase.

As she reached the front entrance, she'd crawl across the floor before leaning against the wall and find the panel that was supposed to open the door. With some quick feeling around, she found a plate of walling that was lighter and pushed on it, flipping it around and revealing a control panel. Having found it, it was only a matter of pressing the right combination of buttons and...

*Vwoooom*

"Perfect... now to climb in."

Taking a gaze indoors, she saw two guards wandering the halls in the far horizon, but they weren't looking in the direction of the open entrance. Rather, they were distracted in a staring contest with each other. God, these two were terrible with their jobs, Calico Cat thought. If she ever had a sidekick or minion, she was going to make sure that they would never play such childish games while on an important job.

Tiptoeing through the door with incredible grace, she'd vanish into the nearest vent as soon as the door closed. This turned out to be perfect, as the right guard finally blinked to the sound of the door closing, causing the two to finally turn their way to the entrance. The moment they got close enough to the door and passed the vent she was hiding in, she pounced down.

"Woah, it's a werecat!"

"Werecats are extinct, Clyde! It's just a lady in a cat costume!"

"But what if she was one Harry? We'd be rich if-"

*Thunk! Thunk!*

With two kicks onto the head, both guards slumped to the ground in a heap. They were going to be knocked out for a while, but for the small thief what she was interested in was grabbing one of their phones and sending the number to Dr. Bones for him to hack. Once it was done, she quickly opened it up and searched through the files before finding what she was looking for.

"Bingo, there's the code to the Girdle's safe! And the safe for the Ice Sapphire as well! No mass guard schedule though... I guess each guard must get their own individual schedule to make things less cluttered."

Pocketing the phone, Calico once again crawled into the vent before making her way through the vent passages. With the map of the facility on her glasses, she played a delicate game of keeping a watch for guards through the exit grates, and slowly marched through the facility as to not create a large amount of sound. The vault was still a very large place though, and it was going to take a while.

One thing she did notice while traveling though was that even with the volcano dormant and staying dormant... it was still kind of hot inside the vault. It felt like she was wandering around in a nearly hundred degree weather, like a beach on a hot summer day. She had no idea of where the source of this heat was coming from, but knew that it was at least being pushed through the vents, causing her to sweat heavily underneath the calico-colored cat costume.

"Oh god... I am in desperate need of a popsicle when I get back..."

Eventually, she finally made it to her destination after a good 20 minutes. Taking a swig from a refreshing water bottle filled with ice cubes, she'd glare down to see various safes in a central vault, with a floor made out of dollar bills. Such a room looked like it was straight out of a cartoon, and that's because Roxie was heavily influenced by DuckTales when designing it but didn't wanna be break her bones when she dived into her money.

Soon as she was properly refreshed, she threw a cloud of catnip down and revealed the laser tripwire that existed all around the safes that were still active. This was one of the things that couldn't be deactivated, as their deactivation was coded to automatically trigger the alarms no matter what, as a sort of failsafe. Still, she had dealt with laser tripwires a lot during her last heist so she was familiar enough with it.

With a jump, she took a gamble. Of course, as things moved to the fateful point something went wrong. Things always went wrong with heists like this, and that was the fun part...
