Maybe a different scene and setting rather then modern? Like medieval or Sci-Fi.

Medieval can have magical means, like spells or magic artifacts to swap, possess or skinsuiting! Along with having mythical beings and kingdoms!

Sci-Fi can have technology means, either hacking into peoples bodies, or like bodyswapping or possession machines! Also having a more advanced environment!

If not there's always room for more ideas!
