The morning drags on in a haze of humiliation. You sit at your desk, typing furiously in an attempt to make up for yesterday's mess. After Jess and Olivia’s relentless teasing and mockery, you’re determined to keep your head down and avoid any further mistakes. But the tension hangs in the air, thick and stifling.
Across from you, Olivia is idly dangling her black heel off her toes, swinging her leg back and forth. She hasn’t said anything yet, but you can feel her eyes on you, watching for any slip-up. Jess, of course, has been hovering nearby, ready to pounce on any opportunity to remind you of your place.
“Tom,” Jess’s voice cuts through the quiet. “You better be finished with that report this time.”
You glance up, meeting her sharp, condescending gaze. Her ginger hair catches the light, making her look even more menacing. She steps closer, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Well?” she snaps. “Are you done, or am I going to have to hold your hand through every little task again?”
“I’m almost done,” you mumble, keeping your eyes on the screen. But before you can finish your sentence, Olivia lets out a loud, mocking sigh.
“Almost done? Wow, Tom, you’re really blowing us all away with your speed and efficiency.” Olivia’s voice drips with sarcasm as she leans back in her chair, her heel still dangling provocatively from her toes.
You clench your jaw, trying to block them out, but it’s impossible. Every mistake, every stumble you make seems to amuse them more and more.
Suddenly, the door to the office swings open, and Scarlett strides in. At 6’3” in her black stilettos, she towers over everyone, her long curly hair cascading down her back. The air seems to change the moment she steps in, her presence commanding the room effortlessly. You can feel the power shift immediately.
Scarlett is stunning, and you've spent more time than you'd like to admit thinking about her. But she’s also intimidating in a way that makes you feel like you’re shrinking just by being in the same room.
Jess straightens up immediately, a wide grin spreading across her face as Scarlett approaches.
“Scarlett,” Jess says, her voice suddenly honey-sweet. “Just checking on our little newbie here. You know, making sure Tom doesn’t fall behind again.”
Scarlett’s eyes flick to you, and you feel your heart race. She’s looking down at you like a queen inspecting her subject, and for a moment, you hope she’ll call Jess off, that she’ll stop this madness. But then she smirks—an amused, almost predatory smile.
“Oh?” Scarlett says, her voice smooth and dangerously soft. “What’s Tom done this time?”
Jess’s grin widens as she senses the opportunity. “Well, he’s been a little slow to catch up, as usual. And I think he’s been… distracted.” She gives a pointed look at Olivia, who’s still playing with her heel, now purposefully letting it drop to the floor and picking it up again.
Scarlett’s eyes follow Jess’s gaze, landing on Olivia and then back on you. Her smirk deepens. “Distracted, huh? Is that true, Tom?”
You feel your face heat up, a flush of embarrassment crawling up your neck. “N-no, I’m just trying to—”
Jess interrupts with a laugh. “Come on, Tom. It’s pretty obvious. You were practically drooling over Olivia’s shoes earlier. It’s no wonder you can’t get any work done.”
Olivia giggles softly, leaning forward in her chair. “Maybe he just likes being our little errand boy. I mean, after yesterday’s cleaning performance, I’m starting to think that’s more his speed.”
Scarlett chuckles, her eyes never leaving you. “Is that so?” she murmurs, her tone full of amusement. She steps closer to your desk, towering over you even more now. You feel utterly insignificant under her gaze.
“Jess, show me what you’ve been working on with him,” Scarlett says casually, her attention shifting back to your computer screen. But you can feel the tension rising as she gets involved.
Jess wastes no time, pulling up the unfinished report you’ve been struggling with. “He can’t even finish a simple task without messing it up. I mean, look at this,” Jess says, scrolling through your incomplete work. “It’s pathetic.”
Scarlett hums in agreement, her eyes scanning the screen. Then she turns back to you, that smirk still playing on her lips. “Tom, I expected better. Or at least, I expected something more… interesting.”
Her words cut deep, and you can feel your stomach twist in knots. But before you can respond, Jess nudges your chair with her foot, tilting it slightly, making you stumble and catch yourself awkwardly.
“Maybe we should give him something more appropriate for his… talents,” Jess suggests with a gleam in her eyes. “What do you think, Scarlett? Should we find something a little more hands-on for him?”
Scarlett chuckles darkly. “Oh, I think that sounds perfect.”
Your heart sinks as they exchange looks, both of them clearly enjoying this game. Then Scarlett turns back to you, her eyes gleaming with amusement. “You know, Tom, if you can’t handle simple tasks like these, we’ll have to find other ways to keep you useful around here.”
Olivia pipes up, her voice dripping with mockery. “Yeah, maybe we can start by having him fetch our coffee. Or clean up after us again. He seemed to like that yesterday.”
Scarlett laughs softly, clearly entertained by the idea. “That might be a good start. But I think we can push him a little further, don’t you, Jess?”
Jess’s grin widens, her eyes gleaming with malice. “Definitely. I think he needs a little more *motivation* to stay on track.”
Your heart pounds in your chest as you realize what’s happening—they’re going to break you down, humiliate you in front of Scarlett, and there’s nothing you can do about it. You glance at Olivia, hoping for some semblance of mercy, but all you see is a smug, delighted smirk.
Scarlett steps even closer, bending down slightly so that her eyes are level with yours. “Tom, do you want to keep your job here?” she asks, her voice smooth but laced with warning.
You swallow hard, nodding silently.
“Good,” she purrs, standing back up. “Then you’ll do whatever Jess and Olivia tell you to do from now on. No questions, no complaints. If you want to keep your place here, you’ll have to earn it.”
Jess crosses her arms, clearly loving every moment of this. “You heard the boss, Tom. So, why don’t you start by getting us all some coffee? And don’t take too long—we’ve got a lot of work for you to catch up on.”
Your body moves before your mind can process it, standing up from your chair and heading toward the breakroom as their laughter follows you down the hall. As you walk away, you can still hear Scarlett’s voice, low and amused.
“Let’s see how far we can push him.”
And you know, deep down, that today was only the beginning. The real games were just starting.
