"Oh crap," Derek moaned. The first name on the list the principal gave him was Becky Robbins. As he recalled, Derek knew that she didn't particularly like him. The previous week, she had ridiculed him for lacking the presence to manage the students' behavior. The woman then flicked him off of her desk and, incidentally, into the tissue box, where a student then grabbed the tissue Derek fell on and blew her nose. It was not a fun time getting out of the garbage can and going to his next class covered in snot. Derek was hoping that though Mrs. Robbins didn't like him, this week would be better than the last.
When Derek arrived in the classroom, he learned that he was the first one there. "Okay, this is actually probably a good thing," he said to himself. "If she notices that I took the initiative to get here early, she'll know that I have a good work ethic." A few minutes later, the teacher walked in. At his desk, Derek gulped as the black woman powerfully walked to her desk, her aura clearly oozing control and respect. Sitting down at her desk adjacent to Derek, she was the one to speak first. "Good morning, Mr. Bates," Becky firmly greeted. "I hope we will be without incident today. Last week was a little bit of an embarrassment for you, wasn't it?" she looked at Derek and rubbed her nose. He winced in discomfort. "It was not pleasant, no," Derek politely responded. "But as I'm sure the principal filled you in on, I'm only shadowing today. I will not be assisting the students. You will have full control of your classroom." Becky chuckled. "Of course I'll have full control, I always do. Just make sure you understand exactly what I employ to effectively and efficiently teach these students," she said. Derek nodded his head. "Sure, sounds good."
Another few minutes later and the first bell rang. Students walked into the class and progressively filled the room, leaving only two desks empty. Mrs. Robbins welcomed the students and swiftly began the morning lesson. She stood up from her desk and went to the whiteboard at the front of the room, just a few feet away from her desk which was in the front corner. Along the short walk to the whiteboard, Mrs. Robbins "accidentally" brushed Derek off of his desk and onto the floor with her arm. Derek barely had time to come to his senses as he sat up on the floor when a large black boot descended onto him.
*CRUNCH*
Becky felt and heard Derek under her shoe after taking the step. She let out a brief grin and a bit of a chuckle, but covered it with a cough. She pivoted and walked back to her desk, carrying Derek with her in the grooves of her boot.
*STEP*
*SQUELCH*
Returning to the whiteboard, Becky wasted no time in continuing the lesson, putting the little assistant under her boot in the back of her mind. Despite putting him out of her immediate attention, Becky made a point of frequently walking along the whiteboard to keep Derek under her boot. Eventually, he became fully attached to her grooves.
*STOMP*
"Oh..." Derek moaned. He was struggling to stay awake as the unpleasant teacher frequently pounded him with her boot. He could hardly make out what she was telling the class, instead being distracted by the foot resting on top of him. As the lesson went on, Becky walked less and less frequently. On the one hand, this meant that Derek was getting stomped on less and less. On the other hand, this meant that she kept her foot on top of him, simply keeping him stuck, more often. With time winding down in the class period, Derek was concerned that Becky wouldn't care about the fact that he needed to get to another teacher's class. Once concluding the lecture, Becky sat down in her chair and lifted one leg over the other. Her foot raised and for a brief moment, Becky saw Derek stuck to the bottom of her boot. She smirked and continued to cross her legs. There, Derek waited, hoping to either fall off of Becky's boot or be peeled off. Nothing changed as the bell rang, dismissing the students and engaging the transition to a different classroom.
Does Becky do something about Derek or does she continue with her work?
