You didn’t know what to say, you were completely awestruck. “I don’t even know how they would’ve put this feature in! I never even designed anybody that looked like a relative or myself for that matter!” you said to yourself. It was so incredible that the game would go to such lengths to pull off a mode like this. The Sins definitely had to be a game-of-the-year candidate now.
As you hovered over yourself, it stated that you were using the computer, causing you to laugh. It typically did that with all characters as they were doing a task, but the fact that it applied to you made it funny for some reason. “I know! I’ll make (him) do something a bit more random just to see how it looks!” you said, moving your mouse towards the menu above your character’s head. You clicked on the menu, and all sorts of different options popped up. Movements, activities, things to say, all sorts of stuff that your character seemed to be capable of. As you scanned through them, you saw “Do a backflip” pop up as an option.
Normally, you couldn’t do one in real life as physical feats were not your strong suit, but you thought it would be cool to see a character that looks like you do one. You clicked on it and waited to see what would happen. As you watched, you found yourself getting out of your seat much like the character on the screen. What was odd was, it was completely involuntary. You had no intentions prior to getting up, as you were focused on the monitor. It was like your body was on autopilot, as you arose and stepped away from your seat.
Your brain felt as if it were in some sort of fog as you stood in place. You knew you were standing up but weren’t quite sure what you were doing. You lowered yourself into a squat position with your arms out in front of you, then violently swung your arms down to your sides and jumped in place. You flipped backward in the air and landed cleanly on your feet. Upon landing, the fog in your head cleared and you stood there in complete amazement at what had just happened.
“What the fuck did I just do?” You said to yourself, breathing hard and your eyes wide. Your heart was racing not because of the backflip but from the shock of what you just did. You glanced back over to the computer monitor and saw your character doing exactly what you were doing, standing in place looking shocked alongside a surprised mood-let surrounding them.
Your mind then began to race. “If I made myself do that, from there, what else could I do? Is it just me? What about everyone else?” you pondered. You sat back down to answer some of these questions you were having. You clicked back on your character’s menu and then clicked on “CHANGE CLOTHING”.
Upon clicking that option, your character was now in a free space that allowed you to select their clothing by selecting from a submenu that listed: tops, bottoms, shoes, undergarments, and accessories. “Let’s try accessories,” you said to yourself as you clicked on it. Another submenu popped up, this time listing: headwear, glasses, jewelry, bags, and piercings. You pressed on headwear, thinking it’d be funny to see yourself in a cowboy hat or something ridiculous such as that, given your current attire.
As you scrolled through the options, you eventually found a cowboy hat and clicked on it. The screen then showed your avatar in the free space as they were before, but this time with a cowboy hat. “Well, yee-haw then partner” you laughed to yourself, before noticing that there was something on your own head. In the reflection of the screen, you could see that you were wearing something on top of your head which caused you to freeze in place. You slowly reached up and felt what you were wearing, and again, your jaw dropped when it seemed that you were wearing an exact replica of the cowboy hat in the game.
“Holy shit, this does work,” you said aloud, “This damn game is 2/2!”. You clicked back on the cowboy hat and hit “REMOVE”, which caused it to vanish from both you and your character. “This is some crazy sorcerer magic shit. I must be dreaming,” you said to yourself in disbelief.
There was one last test you wanted to run, so you exited out of the clothing menu. You hovered over your character again and clicked the “CHANGE APPEARANCE” option in the menu. In this menu, you were normally able to change your character’s age, skin color, height, weight, age, body dimensions, eye color, hair, bodily hair, and practically anything that had to do with one’s physical appearance.
“I’ll try to do something harmless to test this out once and for all,” you said to yourself.
There was an option that said “SKIN”, so you clicked on that and two options became available: skin color and tattoos. You never had a tattoo before, and this way seemed a hell of a lot cheaper and less painful than actually getting one. So you pressed on the tattoo option and an array of different stencils popped up on the screen.
You went with something simple, a happy face, and moved it into your left hand as a test.” Whelp, here goes nothing” you said to yourself as you pressed enter. You didn’t feel anything happen to you, but you saw that the tattoo was on your character’s hand. You looked down at your left hand and didn’t see anything and laughed, noting the ridiculousness of the request.
Your laughter was halted, however, as you saw dark lines begin to form on your hand. Slowly but surely, a happy face in black ink started to appear. “I can’t believe this,” you said, unable to pull your eyes from the image that was appearing on your skin. This ‘miracle’ that you just witnessed had caused your mind to race. “There’s so much I can do with this,” you chuckled as endless possibilities flooded into your mind, “and not just me!”
The computer monitor continued to shine brightly as you redirected your attention back to it, especially at the 6 other available characters on the screen, “They’re in this just as much as I am!”
