Melona's eyes snapped open as she sat up in bed. She was smiling and she didn't know why. Normally waking up in the morning was an arduous process, one that required a three-pronged battle against fatigue, anxiety, and her own bedsheets. Now, however, Melona realized that she had gotten out of bed and was beginning to get dressed without so much as trying to work up the motivation to slog over to her wardrobe. It was as though somebody had poured some strong coffee down her throat while she slept.
An irrational concern popped up, trying to convince Melona that somebody had done just that and that that some stalker had the keys to her room, but the anxiety was almost immediately quashed. It was a ridiculous thing to worry about. Honestly, if such a person were real, Melona'd be tempted to shake their hand.
She glanced up at the clock on her wall. To her pleasant surprise, she had woken up early enough to get to class in time. She even had enough time to grab a quick bite, but, honestly, why risk it? She wasn't all that hungry, and she could just grab a heavier lunch afterwards.
With a spring in her step, she set off towards her first class of the day:
