Chapter #6

The power of Cosyt compels you! The power of Cos--

Melona woke up in bed with Cosyt's hand on her face. She was certain that this would have been most students' dream come true, were it not for a couple of factors. One, Cosyt was standing over the bed, not in it. Two, Cosyt's hand was wrapped around Melona's face, grabbing it with surprising strength. Three, Melona was pretty sure this was the nurse's office.

Oh, also she was surrounded by the rest of her class and everyone was chanting. That put a damper on things as well.

"Av tel do thra, av tel do thra, av masel lo sta, av tel do thra." Melona had never heard a chant like that before, but she remembered reading that group chants were a part of ancient Elvish exorcisms. More specifically, the ancient Elvish exorcisms that they high priestesses would break out when things got especially bad. Each syllable felt like a hammer-blow to the sternum. She was fairly certain that either she, the bed, or the room was shaking. This was unpleasant.

"I--I'm okay--" she croaked. "Just--just stop the chanting please"

The chanting stopped. Cosyt tentatively eased her grip on Melona's face, and stepped back.

"Mel?"

"Was that elvish?" asked Melona. Her head still felt fuzzy.

Cosyt gave Melona an uneasy smile. "High Elvish, yes." She laughed a bit, and waved her hand. Reluctantly, the students began to file out of the room. "I think that merits some extra credit on the linguistics exam from last week."

Melona tried to push herself up, but couldn't. Someone had strapped her to the bed. Against her better judgment, she felt a little rush of arousal. At least she was alone with Cosyt now. She could--Melona shook her head. This was absolutely not the time.

"What happened?" asked Melona.

"Well, today was supposed to be a lesson in minor possessions and counter-corruption spells." Cosyt's face was flushing into a light blue color. Melona guessed that's what succubi looked like when they blushed. "You weren't even supposed to lose consciousness. But apparently--" Cosyt sighed and shook her head. "Melona, you know how I got corrupted, right?"

Melona nodded.

"Well," Cosyt continued, "I think something similar happened to you. Most of my research up until this point led me to believe that it was the alignment of the stars that screwed me up, but now--" she looked back over her shoulder, in the vague direction of the classroom. "This doesn't happen, Mel."

"Professor, it's fine--"

"It's not fine!" Cosyt's face snapped towards Melona. There was fear in her voice and hellfire in her eyes. "This doesn't happen! This never happened to anyone in history, except for me!" She took a deep breath, calming herself and drawing Melona's wandering eye towards her chest. "Mel, the ritual we did today was one of the simplest ones imaginable. A blind chimp could have drawn that circle and you could have walked out of it unharmed.

Melona shifted uneasily in the bed. "P-professor? Could you just say what happened?"

Cosyt nodded. "Sorry. I don't want to scare you. You just need to know that--" she paused. "I guess I want to say that it's not my fault, but it is. That was my blood and my summoning circle." She sighed.

Melona furrowed her brow. "Are they--are you--"

"They're not going to fire me," said Cosyt. "Not without drawing some of my blood and getting some experts from other institutions to look at the circle I drew. They'll...they'll probably also want to take a look at you. I'm sorry."

Melona's concern moved from Cosyt back towards herself. "Why?"

Cosyt walked away from the bed. Melona felt guilty about staring at her ass, but did it anyway. "Mel, you got a dose of enough extraplanar energy to corrupt a small town. I got the exorcism going as quickly as I could, but those few seconds were enough." She turned back around. "You're not technically human anymore."

"WHAT." Melona jerked in her restraints as the word burst forth from her mouth, toneless and booming like an explosion.

"It's--" Cosyt was clearly about to say 'it's fine,' but thought better of it. "Melmel, there aren't a lot of people in the world who've shed their humanity and still stayed themselves. Even fewer who did it by accident. I only know of two people who accidentally got corrupted by extraplanar energy to such an extent that their whole bodies changed without losing themselves entirely, and they're both in this room." Cosyt pulled up a chair, sat down, and laid a reassuring hand on top of Melona's head. "You're still you, Mel. You don't have to worry about that."

Melona paused as terrified exasperation worked its way from her brain, to her lungs, and then to her mouth. "That's not what I'm worried about!"

Cosyt blinked. "Oh. Sorry, I--" she looked to the side and flushed blue again. "When this happened to me I spent the next month having an existential crisis. I just figured--never mind." She looked back at Melona. "What were you worried about?"

Melona racked her thoughts for a bit and came to an answer. "What did you turn me into?"

Small circles of black appeared in the blue patches on Cosyt's cheeks. If Melona wasn't so freaked out, she would have appreciated the opportunity to learn more about succubus physiology.

"Ah. That," said Cosyt. "Well, this ritual was intended to summon a sliver of an aspect of an extraplanar being. The one that I thought was safest could be classified as--

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. an infernal being."

2. a sentient extraplanar denizen."

3. an eldritch abomination."

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
