My stomach growls, so I decide to eat first. I don't really like fast food, so I go with the healthiest option, Subway. Despite being lean, I can eat an entire foot-long in one sitting. After finishing, I toss the wrapper into the garbage that is right next to me. As I am standing up, something clatters to the ground. I look to see that the shrink ray fell out of my pocket. Picking it up, I accidentally push the button. It whirs to life, and I panic trying to turn it off, but too late, the beam of light shoots out and hits me in the arm. I reflexively reach for the spot it hit, as though I had been shot, and the shrink ray slips out of my hand. It lands with a clunk in the garage can.
My skin becomes tingly, and a dizzying sensation overcomes me. I sit down. The food court rapidly grows around me. Once my downward motion stops, I see that I am standing on a large metal surface that is in the shape of a circle. It takes me a minute to realize that I am standing on the seat that I was sitting on just a second ago. Based on its size compared to me, I would guess that I am an inch or less. There is a big metal bar to the side of the round seat, which connects it to the table.
No one seems to have noticed what happened to me. My table is slightly secluded by large plants, so I guess if no one was looking my direction, they would not have seen me shrink. I'm not sure what to do next. The device that could get me back to normal is in the garbage can next to me. It would be quite the challenge to get to it, and even then, I'm not sure I could turn the dials. However, my alternatives are not much better. Getting the attention of one of the giants would be difficult, especially without getting squashed. Plus, what would they think if they found me?
Suddenly I remember my cell phone was in my pocket. Since my clothes shrank with me, it was only logical to assume that it did too. I reach into my pocket, and sure enough, my phone is in there. Unfortunately, it seems to have died. I feel like crying.
