Bruce opened his eyes slowly as he regained consciousness. All of that had to have been a weird dream. Maybe he was drugged? A fight with Scarecrow, maybe? He exhaled sharply and sat up in his chair. He furrowed his brows, feeling his hair brushing his bare back. He never let his hair get that long. He grasped a few strands in his hand and a look of horror befell him. Glancing down, he realized he wasn't quite a "he" anymore at all.
Instead of her usual batsuit, she saw Wonder Woman's armor clinging firmly to her curvaceous body with her cleavage resting prominently in the breast cups. She stood up, wobbling on the high heeled boots that came with the outfit. She used the chair to catch herself, looking around what she thought was the batcave. However, this wasn't the batcave she knew.
The general layout of the hideout was the same, the various platforms suspended over the dark, seemingly endless chasm of the cave. She quickly noticed that the mannequins that once held her batsuits had all been replaced by Wonder Woman costumes that she had worn over the years. Even Nightwing and the other Robins' costumes had all been replaced by Wonder Girl outfits, even the bat symbols on all her equipment were also replaced by the Wonder Woman emblem. Her gadget rack was swapped out for a weapons rack which held Diana's sword, shield, lasso, and other Amazonian weaponry and tools.
"This isn't real..."
Bruce looked down at her delicately manicured fingers. Unfortunately, the "dream" she had wasn't a dream at all. She really was chosen by the Gods to be Diana's replacement. Bruce wasn't a religious man-er-woman, but if these gods were real, then maybe she should try trusting their judgement? Maybe the world really did need a Wonder Woman even more than it needed a Batman? She still didn't quite understand why her of all people, though. Even with Diana's explanation.
"Mistress Diana," a familiar voice called over to her.
Bruce was relieved to see Alfred appeared to be unchanged. What did he call her? Diana?
"Alfred..?"
"Are you alright? You look uneasy. You didn't fall asleep at the wondercomputer again did you?"
He sighed.
"You should rest."
"No... no rest."
Bruce had this same conversation with Alfred probably a thousand times. Just not as a woman and definitely not as Diana.
Suddenly, the Wondercomputer sounded off with a notification.
"The Wondersignal has been activated. Of course..."
Alfred shook his head. He knew there was no deterring her now.
"Do be careful."
Bruce wasn't so sure she should be leaving without fully understanding what had happened to her but if Gotham was in danger, she couldn't abandon it to fate. Wonder Woman or not.
