The decorations were everywhere, lights in the shapes of witches and cackling vampires were strung from lamppost to lamppost, underneath pumpkins carved with ghoulish grinning faces stood on the lawns separating the houses.
The sun had set only ten minutes ago and already kids in costume were leaking out onto the street for early candy.
Amy hugged the book under her jacket tight, unlike everyone else not dressed up for Halloween, having outgrown it long before she had reached her current age of fifteen, even her mom who had been wrapped up in toilet paper to look like a bad impersonation of a mummy made her stomach roll.
All she wanted to do was get to Becka's house and show her the book, after dropping off her brother.
Tim ran out of the house using his arms to widen his cape to look like bat wings, for he was Dracula!
His two friends were waiting outside. Freckled Lucas was dressed up as a ninja, whilst Brenna was Chun Li.
Looking over the banister Amy could see that Lucas's mother, Erica had a hairnet shaped like a snake's nest, she always dressed like Medusa on Halloween, as she had become accustomed to doing Amy rolled her eyes. At least Brenna's mother, Nina wore no costume which earned a point on the moody teen's board.
The drive was aggravating because Brenna kept compiling that they were missing prime candy house and Amy would respond, "They'll just rot your teeth." Why people still clung to this consumer holiday, she would never know. More than once she nearly run over some guys dressed in zombie attire.
The brother Jack and Jim waved them down, whilst a year younger difference even their sister Becka sometimes had trouble telling them apart. Jack was a wizard and Jim was in a bit too big toothless the dragon costume.
Saying goodbye and good luck (for some reason) Amy rushed into the house to see Becka but made little stops to look around the corner. The first words that Becka said were, " No, my cousin Dustin left for college Halloween party went as some barbarian. So you got it."
A smug Amy pulled out the book she had stolen, a supposed spell book, so far nothing had worked but that was about to change tonight.
Amy repeated the words to Becka who was making a circle that was half-sugar and half-salt, it had to be said by two in the circle, " is it Samh-ein or Sam-hein?"
"I think it is Samh-ein. It is done."
Together Amy Jones and Becka Mattzaro stood back to back in the circle and began the incarnation which was to grant them the power to live out their fantasies!"
Oh beings of Samhein.
Frost and Fire be our witness
Make till the end of the night a world that says only what if.
Grant the breaking of the silence!
The room rumbled as supernatural forces grew like air being blown into a balloon. The pair saw a brilliant explosion of a hundred shades of blue then collapse, dead to the world, and would stay that way for many hours in the meantime a wave of unseen energy clocked the town from border to center enacting the fantasies made real.
