Orihime yawned as she woke up, stretching her arms after felt like the best nap of her life, despite lasting mere moments, was that one of the possible side effects Urahara mentioned? If so she would like to use the senkaimon every night!
When she opened her eyes those thoughts went away, she saw where she was, some type of room, not like Urahara's basement but an actual indoors room, wooden walls and even a sliding door, she didn't expect something so mundane from a place called the Soul Society.
Opening her eyes also allowed her to see the position she was in, laying on the ground with her back against the floor and resting above something soft, a futon she assumed, when she sat up Orihime felt something long landing behind her back, had someone tied her hair while she was asleep?
Turning her head around show that wasn't the case, what she saw wasn't her own hair, orange and straight, but red, and spiky as Kurosaki's, this thought reminded her of her friends, no one seemed to be in the room with her, was that a real side effect of the senkaimon?
Orihime brushed aside the odd transformation of her hair, regrouping and rescuing Rukia was their priority so everything else was irrelevant, or so she thought before getting up.
When her feet touch the ground she felt odd, her balance was off as if she was missing something, looking down she understood it wasn't just missing 'something', her whole body was missing! Replaced by that of a man wearing a uniform similar to Rukia's, with the exception this one was slightly opened, allowing her to see a glimpse of a chest covered in tribal tattoos.
"Uh, so this is what he meant with side effects" Orihime grumbled, not believing Urahara would omit this tiny detail!
This might make rescuing Rukia more complicated, how will they regroup? Would Orihime be able to recognise her friends? Would Rukia recognise them? She wasn't sure, hoping that the knowledge gathered during their brief time together would be enough for Rukia to believe them, but first she needed to find her.
Not wanting to waste more time, Orihime opened the sliding door, ending up in a hallway seeing more people wearing shinigami's uniforms, seemingly too busy to notice her, except for one.
"Good morning, Lieutenant Abarai!" said a young looking girl, around Orihime's age, also wearing the standard uniform.
"Uh...good morning!"' she greeted back, with a smile on her face, Orihime might have ended in an odd parallel world in the wrong body but she didn't want to be rude! Not to mention that the lieutenant bit made her notice the armband she was wearing, a clue about how this world worked.
For a few seconds the girl in front of her didn't said anything, just starting at Orihime, making her fear she had done something wrong, but then the girl spoke, "How are you taking the...prisoner situation? I've heard you used to be friends with Rukia Kuchiki"
"Rukia?" the mention of the name reminded her of Kurosaki's explanation for Rukia being taken here, something about breaking laws of the other world, so she should act the part, "SHE'S GUILTY! END OF THE CONVERSATION!" Orihime yelled, raising her arms to the sky, earning a few stares from the shinigami passing through the hallway, did that mean she wasn't supposed to be rude either?
"I-I see, Lieutenant" the girl said, a nervous smile on her face, "I shouldn't have asked, I'm sorry!" after saying that she tried to walk away.
"Wait!" Orihime put an end to the girl's plan by grabbing one of her arms, "Do you know where's the prisoner? I wanted to pay her a visit to, uh remind her how wicked she is!"
"She's at the big tower, I-I mean the Senzaikyū! She was moved there a few days ago, I thought you knew that!" she quickly said, stumbling with her own words, that combined with the fact she was shaking let Orihime knew she still wasn't play her role right.
"Ah yes, the Senzaikyū, of course I knew that, I was just testing you!" Orihime nodded along, hoping this big tower was easy to spot, but before leaving she wanted to try one last thing, smiling and petting the girl's head, "And you passed! Good job, kouhai-chan!" Orihime said, wanting to see the girl's reaction, but was disappointed when she saw she was still terrified.
"Dammit! So this Abarai guy is not the stern but nice senpai either, guess I'll have to keep trying!" she thought to herself, quickly shifting her expression to a frown, crossing her arms and looking to the side, avoiding the girl's stare, "Tch, it's not like I'm proud of you or anything, baka!" after saying that Orihime spied the girl's reaction with the corner of her eye, finding she now looked confused, her mouth slightly open and her eyebrows raised, as if this Abarai guy had grown a second head in front of her, "So he's not a tsundere either? I'm running out of stereotypes!" Orihime thought, walking past the girl
She would have time to learn about Abarai's personality later after rescuing Rukia! Once she was out of the hallway she noticed large walls at both sides of the exit, the walls extended in front of her, looking almost endless but in the distance she saw a bunch of buildings but the only one that catched her attention was a large white tower that resembled a skyscraper, "That must be the Senzaikyū!" Orihime told herself, not believing she was this close to seeing Rukia again, maybe if she was fast enough Kurosaki-kun wouldn't have to fight anyone, but know him that sounded unlikely at best, but still she started walking through the white hallways.
