Over in the Wilko/Beautylicious shopping complex, things were a little uneasy. Zoe was late for her shift, and Carly knew why, since her best friend had already sent her a text message. Giving Arissia a lecture on what she could and could not do since her little swap was humiliating for Zoe, and her anger at the school for allowing such a program to take place was inevitable. Not that she could so anything.
"Is she coming in at least?" Holly asked her boss, referring to their brunette co-worker.
Carly took a sip of her coffee as she browsed the client register. "Yes, she told me she's coming into work. And she also asked me not to ask about Rissi. That goes for you too, okay?" she replied.
Holly nodded, taking a deep breath as she did so. "I'm glad I don't have kids, considering what all the schools are doing now." she then said.
"Hmm, me too. But it's not just the schools doing it now." Carly agreed. "Those creepy people lording this over us are in charge now, and we've got no choice but to go along with it." she explained.
Holly shuddered, trying not to imagine a part of her own body being swapped away without her permission. With another woman maybe it wouldn't be so bad, it depended who it was, but a guy? No, she didn't want that. "The whole thing sucks!" she grumbled, dejectedly looking into her own empty coffee mug.
The sound of an engine outside and the sound of car brakes caused both women to look out of the window. Sure enough, Zoe's red Mazda MX-5 convertible was there. "Okay, remember, don't mention Rissi." Carly reminded Holly with a wag of her right index finger.
"I got it, don't worry." Holly mimed zipping her mouth closed.
"Alright, let's hope she's not in too bad a mood." Carly sighed, as Zoe walked in the front entrance of Wilko and turned left to enter the salon. Her face bore an expression of mostly frustration instead of anger.
