Mary sat at her desk in her study, staring at the screen.
Supromat. Citacore. EZEDo. AO-Corp group. And more. All the CEOs of the world's biggest corporarions awaited her word, to complete the merger into her own mega-corporation. All would become a part of her brand. All the wealth, power and influence associated with them, would be hers.
If her younger self could see her now; from an impoverished child on the streets, without a penny to her name, to forming her own backyard business, and all leading to this. Mary sat on her gilded seat, within her titanic mansion, inhaled, and smiled.
It had worked.
Mary was spectacularly wealthy, but rather than adopting the grandiose size and power of others in her position, she preferred to maintain a size closer to those she sold product to. And the people knew this. They loved her, how humble she was, how she'd risen from their ranks to now controlling so much of the worlds wealth. It endeared them to her. And other companies knew this; they'd been boycotted for years, struggling to compete with Mary's more humble approach.
And now, here they were. Surrendering themselves to her, as they needed to, to have a hope of survival in a business world in which SHE ruled.
All according to plan.
Of course Mary remembered her roots; rising from nothing to becoming a global titan. Of course she used this to appeal to the masses. But it was not empathy for them wretched paupers she felt; it was disgust. She didn't associated with them to help them; it was to remind herself of how much more, how much better she now was. And how much better she could become, if she were to devour her competition. How she'd be able to shed this illusion of "relating" to the poor; and finally adopt her true form, her true height. She'd be able to grow, and grow, and grow, so much that she'd never be able to see them beneath her again. Would, at last, be able to relieve them of their miserable lives beneath her executive heel.
She tingled in anticipation. How she was about to become the undisputed master of this world. And she'd achieved it all through masterful deception. To finally be free of the lie, and to show her "beloved fans" who truly "fought" for them. It was beyond words.
She shivered.
"Friends, I welcome you all, please; sign the virtual document, and I will be able to welcome you all into my big, happy family!"
The CEO's looked down at their screens. Mary saw them, one by one, virtually sign their surrender into the merger.
Mary's screen lit up, one by one, with new acquisitions around the world. Whole territories fell under her sway. Whole populations, now her's. And the financial aspect, that really excited her.
Her wealth, within minutes, multiplied.
Doubled. Tripled. Quadrupled.
On and on it grew. And it was hers. All was hers.
