Galiana stepped into the store, and picked up a number of supplies that she, and Nick, would need in order to travel. Whatever else she felt about humans in general, Galiana make sure that Nick was safe, and taken care of.
After getting what she needed, Galiana left Cawres.
Some hours later, Galiana entered the city of Haven. As she walked around, she noticed that not only did everyone seem to have a human with them, even interacting as if the shrunken humans were still people, everyone was giving her a watchful glance, especially whenever she came close to them.
She entered a restaurant, and the first thing she saw was a lizardman, in the uniform of the City Guard. He was sitting at a table, with a plate of shrunken humans, praying over them. Then, he carefully placed one inside his mouth, closed his lips, and swallowed.
"Well, that's a relief," Galiana said, with a sigh.
The lizardman looked at her. "What do you mean?"
"Well, folks around here seem to treat their pet humans as if they were a precious commodity, and not just pets or slaves," Galiana said, as she came over. "Haven't even seen one get eaten in town so far, until now."
The lizardman guard waved his hand over the humans upon his plate. "They were the victims of a murderer, who killed humans just to eat them, or bought innocent living humans for the intentions of eating them as food."
"But, you just ate those humans?" Galiana said, questioningly.
"It has never been illegal to eat human flesh in this city, provided that the method of procurement is legal," the lizardman said. "Condemned criminals executed for their crime, unclaimed bodies, folks that couldn't afford even a simple burial, those that died of illness or accidents - all were acceptable. Killing someone just to eat them though, especially in non-survival situations, punishable by death."
He then carefully picked up another one, and Galiana could see that the human was dead, due to a broken neck. Again, the lizard carefully placed the human in their mouth, and swallowed.
"Around here, humans are still people," the lizardman said. "Keep that in mind."
Galiana gulped. "So, what happened to the one that killed them?"
