After a very bumpy ride inside this girl's backpack, Jack sighs as he finally feels the backpack being set down, and its motion ceasing. Getting tossed about into notebooks and the wall of the backpack was getting real old. The musty air, too, wasn't much of a benefit for Jack. For a few moments, Jack remained on his back, but he quickly sprung to his feet when he heard and saw the zipper coming undone. When it was fully open, he didn't see the face of the girl, as he expected, but rather the pale skinned figure of her hand coming into the den. Looking around the backpack, Jack soon learned that her hand was heading straight for one of the textbooks, which were conveniently nearest to him. Taking advantage of the opportunity to get out of this prison, Jack leapt to the top textbook, and landed on its cover, just in time to be lifted into the air.
The light outside the backpack shocked Jack and almost blinded him, considering he had spent a fair amount of time inside a pitch black area. When his eyes adapted, Jack saw the same thin figure dressed in casual attire, along with her black hair, that he had been with in his prior class. She was on her bed, looking at her phone while non-attentively bringing the textbook onto the bed with her. She set the textbook down, then immediately set her phone on top of it, nearly mashing Jack again, then hopped off her bed and exited the dorm. Jack swore under his breath. A pretty good opportunity to get her attention had just left. But, Jack noticed that the girl left her phone on by mistake. He peered onto the large screen and noticed that her conversation with a friend was left open. The one word that stood out to him with the gray background of the other person's text was 'Madison'. Now he knew her name, maybe that would help Jack get her attention. He scrolled through the texts, looking for any other useful information he could use. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. Jack quit looking through the messages at that point, knowing if there wasn't anything useful, he should probably stop snooping through someone's private messages.
Not long after he stopped, the door opened and in came Madison. She was carrying an overflowing bag of clothing. She tossed the bag short of her bed, spilling some of the contents onto the floor, then hopped back onto her bed, to the spot she occupied before leaving. Madison, still not paying enough attention to see Jack next to her phone, grabbed her phone, and was soon immersed in it. Jack was a little irritated he wasn't noticed, and set out to climb Madison and once and for all get her to notice him. He made it to her leg when he heard the room door open and both saw and felt Madison move over to the edge of her bed.
"Hey!" a voice from the doorway called. Madison remained on her bed, but was just as cheery as the voice that came before her. "Caris! You're back, how was the store?" Madison asked. Jack couldn't see the entrant quite yet, since Madison was in the way, but he could feel the indifference in her voice. "Lame, it took forever to check out. But it doesn't matter, I got everything we need. You been busy as usual?". Madison began rolling back to Jack. He screamed and jumped out of her way, near the edge of the bed, almost falling off. "You know it. I was just getting started with marketing as you arrived". She flipped the book open to a random page. The girl named Caris laughed. "Whatever, I know you weren't, it doesn't matter. Anyways, I'll at least be productive, I have a syllabus test thing in my next class, I think, so I should probably take a quick look over the thing". Madison chuckled. "Okay, cool, you do that". And with that last interaction, the girls went to their separate activities.
Now that the theatrics were over, what happens with Jack?
