A lot could happen in eight years, and Ash Ketchum had many significant events happen in his life before his journey even happened.
Ash's mood was quite gloomy over the next month or so due to the minimum age to become a trainer being raised, and the fact he had to go back to school.
In an effort to cheer Ash up, Delia planned a trip to the Kingdom of Rota in northern Kanto, and that worked. On Winter Break, they had a good time sightseeing, and just had fun before they returned to Pallet Town after the New Year. However, it was during their stay in Rota that something happened.
Delia and Ash were watching a procession celebrating the New Year, and the mother son duo managed to get in front of the crowd to see Queen Ilene and her knights passing through, but the procession stopped when Queen Ilene's staff started to glow faintly. Most people were confused when she ordered the procession to stop, especially when she started to point the staff at the crowd, and it grew brighter when it pointed at Ash's direction.
One can only imagine Delia and Ash's confusion when Queen Ilene, accompanied by a knight and a Lucario, approached them, climbed down from her carriage, and addressed them directly after she approached them.
The queen simply requested Ash to hold the staff for a moment, and the boy obliged. At that point the staff grew bright enough for everyone to see, and people started to whisper amongst themselves, then Queen Ilene announced that Sir Aaron's heir had returned, and the people of Rota cheered.
The confused mother and son joined the rest of the procession, and once it was over, they were invited directly to Cameran Palace. During a banquet, Queen Ilene explained that Ash had a similar Aura to Sir Aaron, most likely because he was a direct descendants, but there was no why to confirm that.
Regardless of that, Ash was accepted by the staff, and could inherit everything that once belonged to Sir Aaron, as well as have the opportunity to train how to use it. Delia fainted when she heard she and Ash were to be given noble titles, and Ash was excited when he heard he would be given a partner to help him train.
Ash went to choose his partner, but the choice was made for him when a rather mischievous Riolu that could use Aura Sphere tackled him out of nowhere, and refused to let go of him.
Not even the Lucario that was supposed to keep an eye on the Riolu could separate them, and the older jackal got a Aura Sphere to the face for his troubles. It wasn't until Queen Ilene and the old man that took care of Riolu showed up that the little jackal let go of Ash. At that point was clear that both of them shared a strong bond, and Riolu would be Ash's partner.
Just before leaving, Ash and Delia went to the Pokemon Center after Ash's Riolu picked a fight with another Riolu. On the way, Ash's Aura reacted to something, right when they passed by a daycare, and the duo went inside, much to Delia's confusion. She followed them inside, and entered just in time to see an egg hatch. The newborn Riolu clung to Ash in very familiar manner, and Delia was confused at the look of relief of the daycare worker. Apparently, that particular egg refused to hatch for a long time, and they were losing hope it would hatch at all.
After a trip to the Pokemon Center, Ash and Delia informed Queen Ilene of what happened as well as their decision to return to Pallet Town. Queen Ilene tried to convince the Ketchum to stay, but she failed, and decided to give sent someone to help Delia around the house since Queen Ilene knew of Delia's plight of being a single mother.
The Ketchum family returned to Pallet Town with two Riolu, and a Mr Mime that Delia nicknamed Mimey. From there, Ash returned to his studies, and Queen Ilene would sent tutors to help him in various subjects.
Gary was jealous that Ash managed to get two Riolu, despite not being a trainer yet, and it would take some time before he would even talk to Ash again.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
