This story is set in the fantastic world of Nedea.
Nedea is a medieval themed world inhabited by countless fantasy species, and while most of them know of the existence of magic, there are only a handful of them able to actually wield it. For countless eons, each of its inhabitants had lived in harmony, without the knowledge of other species living in the same world, as a magical barrier had been erected eons before to prevent an all encompassing war from spreading out.
But the Wizard who had been guarding the barrier, despite the Gods blessings, has been getting old, too old to keep the barrier up.
When the magic barrier collapsed, the more advanced species, the more courageous or the more battle hardened, emerged from their territories and found that other creatures were doing the same. A few tried to discuss specifically but, ignorance and physical differences riled up the hate across Nedea, until the very same thing that had been blocked before, returned fiercer than ever.
War.
The flames of war quickly spread out on Nedea, an all out fight against everyone and everything.
Some had no chance at all, as the pixies and the fairies went almost completely extinct, others placed a fierce resistance, as orcs, trolls and goblins allied themselves into one, fearsome, massive alliance. It was chaos all around, as each of the major races believed to be the only one deserving to be living in freedom and prosperity.
After hundreds of years, the war is still raging on, although not as fiercely as it had before. In the present days there is a climate of distrust against each other, and yet, there are feeble tendrils of hope for the future as a few communities seems to be spreading around rumors about a town where everone will be accepted, where there is no discrimination over race or species, a place well protected by witches who guards the city with their powerful magic.
Led by a council of thirteen witches, the most ancient magic wielding beings in all of existence, the town has always been protected and many are still leaving their old lives to try a new future there.
Yet, other stories tell about the capital in the Human Kingdom, where the King and Queen seem to be unafraid of the diversity as they have started a campaign to include anyone who needs asylum within their midst, protecting them within an undisclosed location, until they are ready to join the human society.
Even in the Dwarven lands, there are rumors being spread about a family recently constituted, one that would have been put to shame had it been the old days, for the lady of the place is a dwarven noblewoman, a young princess who has seemingly fallen in love with an elf, and has accepted within her territory his entire community.
Lastly, there is one place that, as many recall, everyone is welcome. An orphanage of sorts, for all those who had been left without a family during the countless battles fought in the past and in the present. This orphanage, hidden within a magical forest, is said to be managed by an old couple of long living elves which, despite an almost contactless life with the world outside, have managed to survive and thrive, in ways that nobody really understands.
