The Pokemon world is a lot less friendly when you're a few inches tall. Can you survive?

This choice: Head westward, going beyond the bounds of the route.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #5

Into the sea.

Still shaken by the Poliwag attack, you decide to focus entirely on piloting this miniature sub. It's a damned shame things ended the way they did...beyond the tragedy of her death at the hands (or rather, maw) of a wild Pokemon, the captain of this ship would have been an invaluable source of information on just what the hell is going around you. You would scour the ship for records left behind by the late captain, but you have a bad feeling that remaining in place would be a death sentence.

Thinking about your past encounter, you realize that the Poliwag has already confirmed that the toy he found is full of delectable 'snacks'. For all you know he might come back...possibly with one of his parents. A Poliwrath (or Poliwhirl, for that matter) could probably crush the submarine into scrap with a simple clench of its fist, then crush you between his fingertips the moment he spots you. Clearly, you need to get out of its hunting range before it can bump into you again. Observing your options, you quickly turn your attention to the rocky shoal at the western end of the route. Normally the jagged rocks around Route 21 wouldn't allow for traversal, especially not with a vehicle of some sort, but at your tiny size, you just might make it. You man the controls and take a turn for the western edge of the route, ready to head into the great unknown and hopefully, eventually, find your way to safety.

The rocks loom larger and larger as you draw closer to the edge of the route, your eyes set on a tolerably wide gap between two of the rocks. The gentle waves of the shallows buffet your ship, knocking it about just enough to make you worry that your ship might not be able to make its way through such a narrow pass without crashing into a rock. Yet on you go, putting your faith in your piloting skills ....which should by all rights be nonexistent! Your heart pounds as you get close enough to the rocks for their outer edges to pass by your field of view. A sudden wave sends your ship careening towards one of the walls, yet you are able to quickly turn the ship and compensate by accelerating forward. Success! You make it beyond the rocks and off of the beaten path!

As you recover from the harrowing maneuver, you examine both your sub's sonar screens and one of the camera feeds and discover a massive dropoff in the sea bed below. Though the water limits your depth of vision, the blips on the sonar predictably reveal that aquatic Pokemon of varying shapes and sizes lurk in the seas below. Thankfully, the submarine affords you some level of protection, though you hardly imagine that a miniature wild Magikarp is the best choice of disguises. How will you ever safely navigate these waters...?

You have the following choices:

1. Remain surfaced and head west

2. Head down underwater.

*Pen*
3. Head south along the shoal

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
