Your curiosity gets the better of you, and you decide to head around the building to investigate the source of the noise. It could well be a Pokemon, but there's a not-insignificant chance that the noise could be coming from someone who works at the lab. Without knowing if the vine or the front door are actually viable paths of entry, you make your way across the northern face of the building, cutting through the grass in the process. Your trip along the northern end of Oak's lab is an uneventful one. You pass by the window and connected vine and you head your way to the corner, the noise growing louder as you draw closer and closer to it.
As you round the corner, it takes you a moment to discern the source of the noise. Complicating factors is the fact that the grass patch here is less well-maintained than the grass elsewhere, likely because the narrow pass to the right of the lab is so seldom traversed. You make your way along the grass patch and eventually find a rock that you can use to get a better look at your surroundings and climb atop it. Surveying the area, you spot a large bag of chips lying down beside a trash can, but no obvious signs of life. It takes you a moment to spot a purple tail poking up over the bag...the familiar tail of a Rattata, most likely the one you saw earlier! You stagger back and fall onto your back with an "OOF." You hear a pause in the rummaging, followed by a flurry of crinkling and, more ominously, thuds and the rustling of grass. Getting to your feet, you lock eyes with the enormous rodent. You've been seen!
You immediately bolt northwards, not having the time to ponder the depths of your folly. The Rattata is hot on your heels, easily able to outspeed you, but at least you have a head start. By the time you make it to the corner, the Rattata is already upon you. The mighty rat sends a paw down for you, but its paw harmlessly THUDs into the grass behind you... a narrow miss! You quickly round the corner, but find that there are humans nearby. The Rattata quickly skids past the corner, turning its attention to you. Before you can retreat any further the rat pounces, pining you beneath both of its paws.
You're held hopelessly under the Rattata's paw, saliva dripping from the hungry scavenger's gaping maw, its warm smelly breath washing over you. Rather than devour you now, however, the Rattata drags its paw against the grass, grinding you brutally against the ground and pulling you closer to the corner in the process. Once it arrives at the corner, the Rattata quickly flicks you back into the tall grass to the east of the building and pins you beneath its paw once more.
No one will save you. There's no fighting back. You're just a lone vermin about to be preyed upon by a larger vermin.
