After securing lodgings, your first order of business is to visit the closest public baths. First, because you want to get rid of the wear and dust you've accumulated on your journey to Rome. But mostly, you wish to see what the public baths in Rome are like. It is true that even the smaller cities of the Empire boast public baths, But you've always heard that these are but pale imitations of the public baths that can be found in Rome. You wish to discover for yourself if that boast is true.
