Kasey drags me out the door. "Come on. You promised to walk with me to the mall. You don't have to stay long, only until my friends get there. Plus, I thought you wanted to get your 'girlfriend' a birthday present." I roll my eyes and reluctantly follow. Jess is technically just my friend, but Kasey knows darn well that I have a crush on her. However, the mall is not my favorite place. I typically prefer online shopping.
It takes about 15 minutes to get from my house to the mall, which of course is crowded as usual. Since Kasey's friends are not here yet, she follows me into Nordstrom. I feel my cheeks go red as she watches me look at necklaces. Jess's birthstone is an emerald, so I pick up a few with the sparkling green stone.
"I've got to pee," says Kasey, "I'll be right back." She walks off towards the bathrooms. I accidentally drop one of the necklaces. As I bend down to pick it up, I feel something wet on my leg. Suddenly I remember that I still have the shrinking elixir in my pocket. The lid must have come off. Cursing, I grab the bottle. It slips out of my hand and rolls under one of the displays. My skin becomes tingly. I reach for the antidote in a panic, hoping that I can stop what I know is coming next. Unfortunately am a klutz, and it also rolls to the floor.
The room appears to grow rapidly while I get closer to the ground. I am in shock as I stare around at my giant surroundings. From down here, I can see every detail of the carpet. The necklace I dropped sits in front of me like some sort of strange snake. There is also a penny. Judging by its size compared to me, I guess that I am less than an inch tall. "Hey Alex, where did you go?" I hear the voice of my cousin booming from a distance. I look to see Kasey coming towards me. She is massive. Her high-top shoes come dangerously close to me. "Dude, did you ditch me?" Kasey's legs look like redwood trees. From my perspective, I can see her bright pink underwear as her skirt blows around her legs. "Oh, well. Jackie just texted me, so I am leaving. Not that you care." She huffs and turns away.
