A lifetime ago he was known as Stand and Deliver Jorn. He was the rock that would not falter. The wall against which all attacks would crash against and fall apart. When a hole in the enemy line needed to be created, the Captain would have Stand and Deliver Jonn pick a few men, who would then lead the charge.
Everyone knew Stand and Deliver Jonn. Even the King had known him. Known him and praised him and even clasped him on the shoulder.
That was a lifetime ago.
Now he was One-Eyed Jonn, the tall, skeletally thin man who anchored the most prominent corner on beggar's row. Just another gray figure who had been forgotten.
Not far from where Jonn squatted, his begging bowl in front of him, the cloaked figure of an Anthronian slave made its way through the streets. The slave wore a silver bracer on their left arm. The intricate design on the bracer marked the Anthronian as the property of Margravine Niadda. And only a fool would harass a slave of that noble woman. Not when the slave was carrying out a mission for Lady Niadda.
The hooded figure made its way down Beggar's row and directly to One Eyed Jonn. As soon as the figure was in front of Jonn, it said, "My lady has need of your services, Jonn." The figure pulled back its hood to reveal the face of a
