"Yeah, no. Keep dreaming, Kyle," you reply. As much as you like Olivia, the fact that it's your former body specifically that she inhabits puts you off. You'd rather keep your options open.
"Oh yeah? Then what was that hug all about?" Kyle retorts.
"I promised to lend him a book I've been reading," you say, not missing a beat.
"Oh, what?" says Kyle, disappointment evident in his tone. "That's all it is?"
"I told you, you moron," says Derek. "You're always making up stupid shit."
"I can't help it, man, the stuff I make up in my head is way more interesting than what's actually happening around me!"
The four of you continue bantering with each other as you exit the monochrome part of the forest, and further still as you make your way back along the trail and out into town proper. Kyle and Derek, you know, live in opposite directions, and say their farewells right away. You, however, pause, and Olivia comes in front of you, smirking.
"You don't know where I live, do you?"
"Excuse me, I know where you live, Tim," you say, half-jokingly. But all the same, she's right. While you've had a crush on her for a while, and you've recently made the move to get to know her better, and on top of that she's greeted you outside your own house, you have never actually been to hers. For all you know, you've never even seen it. "Unfortunately, I...don't seem to know where I live."
Olivia giggles in reply, a strange sound to hear from your former voice. "Alright, Olivia, but as a matter of fact, I do happen to know where you live. So I guess, gentleman than I am, it's my job to walk you home, huh?"
You try to think of some alternatives - you've already insisted to Kyle that you're not dating, and walking a girl home is usually a boyfriend's job - but you don't actually know how to describe where you are to anyone you could ask for a lift, so you have to give in. "Okay, fine."
Olivia sets off ahead of you, but you keep pace easily enough. As you walk, she casually asks, "So, why'd you shoot Kyle down like that? I thought you said you wanted to date me."
You see no harm in admitting your point of view to her, and so you reply, "I don't really feel comfortable dating my old body. At least, not yet."
Olivia shrugs, seeming to accept that answer. "I just figured it would've been as good an excuse as any to lock me into being your girlfriend when we're back to normal."
In your mind's eye, you seen the image of your palm meeting your forehead. You hadn't even considered that. Though your feeling of foolishness subsides soon, as you realize that if she really didn't want to date you, and you did switch back, she could easily just break up with you.
You say none of this, and instead respond with, "That would be wrong."
"Pfft, okay," says Olivia, walking up to a nondescript house you've never been to before. You quickly gather that this is Olivia's - or rather, for the moment, your - house, as Olivia would have to pass your house to get from here to basically anywhere in town, despite not being all that close. "Anyway, we're here. Your family's names are in the contacts on your phone. You'll probably end up talking with Danielle a bunch, don't clue her in. And if you need anything else, you have my number, too. So, see you around!"
"Yep, see ya!" you say, and Olivia turns to head off. You open the door to your new home, but the question remains as to what you do next.
