Chapter #4

a bank robbery.

Between the four of us, we had the entire city wired; if anything happened, we were the very first to know about it. Geo was obsessed with protecting the city and we were dedicated to protecting its people.

"The city bank is being robbed." Once on our way, Geo said. "It's likely already become a hostage situation; we need to act."

"How many robbers?" Curious, Steve asked.

"Four, counting Sykes." Frowning, Geo said.

"Should be a cake walk." Calmly, I said. "Only Sykes is already rich; why is he bothering with a bank heist?"

"We'll ask him once we kick his butt." Serious, Liv said.

Steve drove the van up a ramp into a parking garage near the bank. We were parked across the street from the bank a moment later. The police had not yet arrived but we were not there to put on a show for them. I charged forward and ripped the door open, breaking the lock with ease. Sykes and his three cronies took notice of us right away and turned their weapons onto us. The first man got off a shot which bounced off harmlessly, making me smile. I pulled the gun from his hand before summoning my power. I grew from an average looking five foot boy to an eight foot Olympian giant before easily lifting the man off the floor by the collar.

"You guys are adorable!" Grinning, I said.

I then slammed the man against the floor hard enough to render him unconscious and turned to others. Liv delivered a hundred kicks and punches in a second to the second robber, making short work of him. The third robber punched Steve only to recoil his hand in pain. Steve merely grinned then punched the man, sending him flying into a wall. Within a minute, all three robbers had been captured. Liv had them tied up in a corner of the lobby within seconds and we all turned to Geo who was walking back to us, a clear look of frustration on his face.

"Sykes got away..." Angry, he said.

"At least he was unable to get a dime." Softly, Liv said.

Geo motioned to a clean spot on the wall where a picture had once been hung. "It wasn't money he was after." Frowning, he said. "This was just a distraction."

"All that for a lousy painting?" Confused, I asked. "What sense does that make?"

"Let's get out of here." Irritated, Geo grumbled. "Sykes has given us yet another mystery to solve."

We sped off just as the first squad cars arrived. As we drove by them, we declared in one voice, "Problem Child!"
