"I'm sorry, what?!" Victoria hissed, squinting at her friend, Lisa. Shaking her head, she slowly closed the book she was heavily invested in and adjusted her glasses. "Lisa, did you actually just say that?"
"Mmmhmm." Lisa murmured, nodding as she cleared her throat. Licking her black lipsticked lips, she pressed her finger to a certain passage of her own book. "Check it out, watch." Lisa whispered, clearing her throat once more. "Table of wood, strong and sturdy. I desire you to be as glass, create a crevasse!" Lisa hissed, using her other hand to run a quick, short line with one finger on fhe table.
Lisa and Victoria were silent for a few moments, both jaws dropping as the table quietly creaked. The invisible line that Lisa had drawn started to splinter, countless tiny pieces of wood shattering into infinitesimally small shards and disappearing. The two girls exchanged a glance. Lisa, a somewhat cocky "I told you so" one. Victoria, an intrigued, awed, and slightly terrified one.
"You weren't kidding! You actually found an actually magic book! Lisa, you-"
"Tome. It's a tome." Lisa giggled quietly, closing her old, dusty book. "There's SOO many spells I want to try, Victoria! Like..." Lisa paused, blushing slightly. "...Vic, you ever wonder about being someone else? For a little bit?"
"I... I mean, I guess. Why?" Victoria asked, raising an eyebrow as Lisa fidgeted. "What spell is it?"
"Look, I just need a volunteer!" Lisa hissed, gulping as she finished speaking. "You're right here, and Brittany's off at practice! Can I just... try it?"
