You stay in your seat, not wanting to get caught up in the crowd of yammering brownnosers who are gathering around Ms. Smith's desk. You're happy (and relieved!) to see that Sid stayed in his seat too. You would definitely talk to him after class and see what he thought of Ms. Smith.
