Those lyrics come to your mind unbidden as Ms. Smith turns around and, with a winsome smile, observes ""I take it none of you have ever seen a drider before?"
That would be a safe bet. Heck, no one you know has ever seen a regular dark elf before, much less a drider. Your school is close enough to a national forest that some of the wood elves who live there have opted to go to your school, especially if they have an interest in attending a human university. But dark elves pretty much keep to themselves. The local university has a dark elf on its staff who teaches petroleum engineering but, by all accounts, she keeps to herself after hours.
The only thing you know about driders is from that show about dark elves on The History Channel, the one that comes on right before Ancient Aliens. So obviously you don't know how much of what you see on that show to believe.
But now you're actually meeting one.
You also understand why there was a huge gap between the desks in the middle of the room when you came in. Ms. Smith needed a lot of room to get into the room.
From the waist up, Ms. Smith looks like a very beautiful elf woman. Truth be told, she looks a lot like Halle Berry did in the first X-Man movie. She was even wearing the same leather outfit that Halle wore as Storm. Well, there were a few differences. Ms. Smith had decidedly pointed ears, her eyes were an ice blue, her hair was much longer and worn in a single braid behind her, and her breasts looked to be two cup sizes larger than Halle's.

But from the waist up, Ms. Smith could pass as a young Halle Berry cosplayer.
From the waist down, Ms. Smith was all monstrosity.
It was apparent that no one in the room suffered from severe arachnophobia, or else they would have been going into convulsive fits right now. Ms. Smith's lower body was the legs and abdomen of a giant black widow.
You're pretty sure that at least one person in the room wet and/or soiled themselves at Ms. Smith's appearance. You're sure because you came pretty close yo doing so yourself.
"Well, the first thing I want you to do is forget everything you think you know about Driders," Ms. Smith continues, "Because you don't know shit. For one thing..."
In the blink of an eye, Ms. Smith's lower spider part disappeared, replaced by an elven woman's lower half, clad in dark leather like the top half.
"The spider part of me is not some curse that I'm stuck with for the rest of my life. In fact," she continued, "Most of you won't ever see that form of me again, unless you piss me off. So a good rule of thumb is, don't piss me off."
"Also, like most dark elves, I'm not that fond of direct sunlight. But I don't burst into flames and my skin doesn't start smoking if my skin is exposed to it. So if one you geniuses decides to spotlight me with a UV flashlight, all it's going to do is piss me off. And we all know what happens if you do that. So any questions so far?"
Neither you nor anyone else in the room seems to have any questions.
"Now that the introductions are out of the way," Ms. Smith continues. "Besides being your home room teacher and teaching a couple of biology classes, I'm also going to be
