You see that the mats were already on the floor and your teammates were stepping into their places. "Finally!" you heard coach yell. You start to head to the locker room, when she stops you. "I need to go change first." you say back.
"It's fine, we are just doing a walkthrough, you don't even need to put your shoes on- let's go!" she commanded. Reluctantly, you put you bag down and walk to the mat. You slide your feet out of the crocs and step on the mat. You step into position and wait for the music to cue.
You start the walkthrough and think that you did a pretty good job. It was hard to get into some of your stances just because you couldn't close your legs but given the circumstances, you were pretty proud. You do the walkthrough twice with no stunts.
Afterwards coach tells the girls that were doing stunts to stick around and the rest of us needed to go set up our area in the cafeteria. I forgot how much work it took to host a competition.
We moved tables around, giving each team a location where they could go when they weren't cheering. By the time we finished that, moms were coming in with coolers and food. Nobody really took notice of me which I was grateful for. Steph's mom came back, putting water she had bought in the cooler.
When the people doing stunts were done, coach met us in our area where she gave us a little pep talk. Since we hosted, we were one of the last teams to go- which meant we wouldn't being going for another 6 or 7 hours probably. While she was talking, other teams were filing into the cafeteria. Girls in sweats and carrying blankets. They also brought in coolers and food to fill their area.
