Waking up early and in a grog, you didn't think of the message and prepped yourself for the day. Sprucing up, you then head to the dojo for work.
The morning class is excited to see their favorite instructor as you deliver an awesome lesson for them. Some parents would sit to observe the class or drop off the kids and you knew pretty much everyone because it was small town dojo.
That's why a scrawny ish guy kinda lurking in the dojo stood out. You noted him but kept focused on the class and showcased some basic kicks to drill with them. The side kick and front kick were essentials in the course so an hour of conditioning went by.
After an hour of that, it was time to wrap up the class. Saying your goodbyes, the kids and parents wished you a great rest of your weekend. As people shuffled out of there, that left only one person left.
He was looking around obviously very awkward so you greet him.
"Hi first time here? I get how daunting it can be but hey you did the hardest part, showing up!"
His demeanor relaxed as your warm greeting eased some tension. He nods but doesn't say anything.
"Okay cool! Welcome in, we're a very open dojo so have no fear about classes or instructors! Did you wanna sign up for the beginner class? It starts in 2 ish hours"
He paused for a bit longer, seeming as though he was having trouble saying something.
Your brow raised before he spoke.
"Umm, I sent you a message on insta, I wondered if you read it by chance? My account is called dork destroyer."
Your eyes open wide and you said, "oh. yeah i read your message but i wasn't sure how to reply."
Feeling a glimmer of hope that you'd say yes, he asked if he could explain the details.
Hesitant to idea but open, you gave him some time to run through his idea.
He shows some excitement now as he gives some context for his idea. He opens a dropbox folder and skims through some footage of women in martial arts attire either kicking towards the camera or performing kicks on a person.
Seeing as you already have experience with kicking at the camera and beating people up in competitions, he saw you as a great choice to ask to beat up a dork.
Continuing, he explains how he would be the dork getting beat up and have some camera's recording angles of it.
You explain how if he wants his teeth kicked in or to be knocked out that you'd be quick to shut it down. Thankfully he explains how it's more to give the appearance of the beatdown as well as appreciate the feet of a black belt.
"Can you clarify from what you mean appreciate my feet? That's quite a way to describe an idea. Also whats your name?"
His name is Dee but you could also just call him dork. You laugh and tell him how the idea is something you'd be interested in, for the right price.
Dee's eyes bulge as he wasn't sure if this would work. He asks if the $200 would be okay.
You ponder for a bit and ask how much he has on him. He gulps and opens his wallet to about $89.
"Tell ya what. Hand over that $89 for now, then after we finalize the details bring the $200 and you got a deal".
Without skipping a beat, Dee hands you the money.
A big smile is on your face as you tell him that the dojo can be used after class hours for this little gig.
Working out some more details, he plans to return later with his gear.
