Legend has it that there was a Ninja Master known as the Dragon's shadow. He supposedly had a technique that was so powerful he could wipe out armies singlehandedly with it. It is believed that the secrets to this technique were passed on prior to his death.
As a member of the White Tiger Clan (a secret Ninja society), you've grown up with tales of Ninja lore. You heard about Masters who had the ability to make weapons shatter against their bare skin, project fire from their hands, and change their appearance, There were even Ninjas who could teleport from one place to another. In your experience these mystical abilities were either heavily embellished or lost in time. Despite that you've seen enough remarkable feats of skill from the senior members of your clan that any legends you hear bears a grain of truth to it. If your clan's champion is able to walk on water, catch arrows in midair and stop a person's heart with one blow... other abilities might not be so farfetched.
It is believed that the Dragon's Shadow had retired to what is now known as Shenlong island... A hidden isle in the Pacific known only to a few Ninja groups. Recently Shenlong island has attracted the interest of the Tiger Clan's rivals ... the Wolf clan. According to White Tiger spies, the Wolf Clan even sent a small party of Ninjas to the island to investigate. Did they discover something about the legend? The Tiger clan has sent you to find out.
Your mission is to investigate Shenlong island. Find out if the secret technique legends are true. If the secret technique exists ...make sure that the Wolf Clan does get the get their hands on it first.
You arrived at the island this morning. The structures remind you of Edo period Japan. The buildings here seem like the castles and temples, you would see in Osaka and Kyoto. People are dressed in Kimonos and it feels like you're in a Kurosawa film. Despite reports of the contrary you see no signs of the wolf clan anywhere, At least none in your immediate vicinity. Did they decide that the hidden technique was just a rumor or did they already get what they were looking for. Even more unsettling is the possibility that the Wolf clan didn't leave the island yet. Could they still be on the island searching for the technique ahead of you?... Or did something happen to them?
In any case this raises a more immediate concern for you. Without the Wolf clan to tail, you are not sure how to begin your search. The island does have an ancient library on it... maybe you can find some additional information from there. Or you could try talking to locals on the island...maybe they'll be able to tell you some things.
Another option might be to visit some popular sites on the island There's a set of caves on the west of the island rumored to contain vast secrets. Maybe tthe key to the technique you are looking for could be there. You've also heard rumors of a temple in the mountains range of the island where Ninjas hone their craft ... perhaps that might be a good location to check as well. There's another area in the south of the island called shipwreck cove. A lot of ships have mysteriously disappeared sailing in that location... could there there be some power at play to investigate?
